The NFL world has once again proved why it is called unpredictable as one of the two undefeated teams till now, the San Francisco 49ers, got their first taste of defeat in week 6. The team smashed five teams on their way, but little did they know that they would have to go down to the Cleveland Browns, who were 2-2 before starting the match.
However, the 2-point defeat wasn’t the only heartbreak 49ers witnessed against the Browns. Two of their key weapons on the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and running back Christian McCaffrey sustained injuries in week 6.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel injury update
Samuel’s shoulder injury was announced with nearly three minutes left in the first quarter, albeit when or how he sustained it remains uncertain. During the second quarter, he spent some moments in the medical tent on the 49ers sideline before finding his way to the locker room.
The former Pro Bowler couldn’t resume his play after recording two carries for 11 yards. According to the NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the receiver’s shoulder X-ray came back negative, and he is scheduled for an MRI. The source also added that the injury was a minor one, and the franchise believes he would be fine afterwards.

The next step is an MRI, but I’m told the team believes he “will be fine” after getting injured today vs the #Browns. It’s not considered to be serious.

The incident came in the same year that the WR suffered ankle and knee injuries earlier. Meanwhile, the 49ers left tackle Trent Williams was also announced to have been injured with Samuel as he rolled up his right ankle.
However, Williams was not completely unlucky as he successfully returned to the field after a couple of offensive snaps. But the 49ers WR1 was not snapped till after halftime. Following that, he was seen wearing a hoodie and cap.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey suffers “oblique injury” vs Browns
In the 49ers 17-19 loss to the Browns, Christian McCaffrey left the field in the second half with an oblique injury. Like Deebo, the time and reason for the RB’s injury is unknown. He was examined in the medical tent before coming back to the field for one play. However, the offensive troop couldn’t finish the match afterward and left the field to head for the locker room.

Following the match, the 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he was not sure of the extent of the injury of the 27-year-old veteran, and added he would have further testing scheduled for Monday.
Though the San Francisco 49ers got down to the Cleveland Browns, Christian McCaffrey showcased a magnificent performance in the match. He recorded 52 yards on 14 touches and a 13-yard pass in 30 snaps, extending his streak to 15 consecutive games with a TD. He has been the best RB in the NFL so far this season by leading the league both in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
