Cody Rhodes had faced Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 but lost the bout due to interference from Solo Sikoa. This was an unfair match for Rhodes, given the high stakes involved. Now, he wants another chance to face The Tribal Chief at the upcoming WrestleMania event and finish the story as he intended.
The American Nightmare has set his sights on becoming the World Champion at WrestleMania 40, and to achieve that goal, he was determined to win the Royal Rumble, which he finally accomplished. Now, his wife is celebrating his victory as he joins the list of Royal Rumble winners, much like many other big names in WWE.
Cody Rhodes’ wife reacts to husband’s Royal Rumble achievement
Wrestling fans were excited as WWE superstar Cody Rhodes won the Men’s Royal Rumble 2024, accompanied by cheers and applause. The American Nightmare made history by winning his second consecutive 30-men competition, being one of the favorites alongside CM Punk. He has now earned the chance to headline WrestleMania 40 and potentially win the World Title to culminate his story.
After the match had ended, Cody pointed towards Roman Reigns, who had been watching the bout from the stands. This hinted that Rhodes might be going after Reigns’s Undisputed Universal Championship. Following his victory, Cody’s real-life partner, Brandi Rhodes, shared a heartfelt message on X writing, “We won.”
Cody Rhodes chooses his WrestleMania 40 opponent
Cody Rhodes made history at WWE Royal Rumble 2024 by winning the 30-man over-the-top rope extravaganza back-to-back, becoming the first person to do so since Stone Cold Steve Austin. After the event, in the post-show press conference, the American Nightmare revealed that he would be challenging The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40.
At WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes with the help of Solo Sikoa. However, this year Cody has won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match and earned the right to challenge Roman once again. In the Royal Rumble Post-Show Press Conference, Rhodes announced his intention to challenge The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40 and finish the story.
“I want to be back in the ring with Roman Reigns, and I want to finish the story. I detest the statement now because apparently everybody’s got a story. Punk wanted a story; Drew got a story; everyone has a story. But a big part of me is that I am very big on keeping my word. So if I say something silly on TV, but it’s a promise, I intend to keep the promise. So, I don’t know if two times is the charm with Roman; we’ll see,” said Cody Rhodes.
