Ryan Garcia lost his undefeated status to Gervonta Davis but bounced back with a knockout victory over Oscar Duarte. Garcia is one of the most popular fighters in the lighter weight classes and is currently signed with Golden Boy Promotions.
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the 2024 AFC Championship in a hard-fought victory courtesy of Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Tight End Travis Kelce. Garcia had words of encouragement for the Chiefs after they earned their place in Super Bowl LVIII.
Ryan Garcia congratulates Mahomes, Kelce on Super Bowl qualifying
Former WBC interim lightweight champion was impressed by the performance of the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs after their AFC championship victory over Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. Garcia took to X to express his support for the Chiefs.
“Let’s go chiefs!!!!! Patrick & Kelce. You know I got love for y’all way to keep winning!!!! LETS GO! SUPERBOWL BOUND,” Garcia tweeted. Mahomes and Kelce are the best players on the Chiefs and their talent was evident in the AFC Championships as they won by 10-17 against the Ravens, which had the offensive juggernaut of Lamar Jackson.
Garcia has recently been involved in a power struggle between his promoters Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya. He has been very vocal about it as the fans await his next bout inside the boxing ring. The boxer was recently linked with legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. who openly expressed his interest in seeing a Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero fight.
Ryan Garcia likely to fight Devin Haney next
Ryan Garcia, along with Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and Devin Haney, among others, is one of the biggest names in boxing’s lighter weight classes. However, among the four, only Davis and Garcia have fought each other. Now, rumors circulate of a bout between Garcia and Haney.
Haney is signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and Hearn has publicly called out Garcia to be on the negotiation table. Journalist Michael Benson of talkSport reported about the news. “Eddie Hearn has publicly urged Ryan Garcia to now return to the negotiating table to fight Devin Haney next,” tweeted Benson on X.
“he hopes that fight could get made this week for Haney’s WBC super-lightweight world title on April 20th in Las Vegas,” Benson further tweeted. Haney recently won the WBC super lightweight title with a dominant victory over Regis Prograis. Haney’s move came after he relinquished his status as the undisputed lightweight boxing champion.
If Garcia indeed fights Haney, it would be Garcia’s 2nd high-profile bout in his past three fights. Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh has publicly stated his interest in seeing a Gervonta Davis versus Devin Haney in Riyadh. However, Davis has publicly demanded two Ferraris if the Saudis want him to fight in Riyadh.
