Bobby Green will be fighting at the coveted UFC 300 against fellow veteran Jim Miller. Green last fought in the co-main event of UFC Austin where he suffered a brutal first-round knockout loss to Jalin Turner. Green was coming off finishes of Tony Ferguson and Grant Dawson.
Green has been fighting in the UFC for a long time and has even fought the likes of Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier in the octagon although both fights ended in a first-round finish. One veteran that Green did not fight in the UFC was Nate Diaz who wass the man behind the infamous Nate Diaz law.
What is Nate Diaz Law?
The UFC now has Drug Free Sports International as its antidoping partner after 8 years of it’s partnership with the USADA. The USADA made significant stride in its stance on CBD and it was mainly due to an iconic moment that involved Nate Diaz. Diaz openly used a CBD vape in a post-fight press conference at UFC 202 after his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor.
Diaz spoke highly of CBD and highlighted its healing benefits, prompting the reevaluation of CBD by the USADA. Since January 2018, CBD has not been considered a prohibited substance by the USADA. This policy change was informally referenced as the ‘Nate Diaz Law’ by Jeff Novitsky, the Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance for the UFC.
Nate Diaz famously smoke it in the press conference of UFC 263 where he fought Leon Edwards. Diaz had a pivotal role in popularizing CBD and also for destigmatizing the usage of cannabis. Athletes across the sport now use CBD for its therapeutic benefits.
At present, Diaz is not with the UFC but he has teased his return at UFC 300. However, it needs to be noted that other fighters like Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler have also field rumors of fighting at UFC 300.
Bobby Green used Nate Diaz Law to smoke weed during training
Even though Nate Diaz is not with the UFC, many fighters benefit from the Nate Diaz law, and one such fighter is Bobby ‘King’ Green. Green, a veteran of the sport, admitted to smoking a lot during his appearance on the JAXXON podcast, hosted by Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Bear Degidio.
“I smoke weed, but I don’t just smoke weed. Like, I ain’t gonna hit no pens, I’m not gonna hit no joints. I just smoke blunts, all tobacco,” revealed Green on the podcast. It was a revelation that surprised both Jackson and Degidio.
“I’m smoking 15 of those a day, and I’m not talking about little ones. I’m talking about 15,” Green surprised them again with the number of blunts he takes a day. Jackson, a former champion in the UFC found it to be astonishing.
“As long as you don’t test the day of,” Green further explained the legality behind his usage, as the Nate Diaz Rule allows him to do so. Green expressed admiration for Diaz for the change he brought to the sport of MMA.
