Super Bowl LVIII: Who will sing the national anthem at Chiefs-49ers game?

The biggest and most exciting game of the year is upon us, and it presents the clash of two mammoth franchises, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. In what is set up to be an intense affair, spectators will have pregame and half-time shows to dilute the palpable tension in the bleachers.

Every year, the Super Bowl halftime show garners a lot of attention among the NFL faithful. With the likes of Rihanna and Coldplay performing in previous editions, expectations are running high. However, the pregame show has also attracted a lot of attention ever since the lineup was declared.

Who is going to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVIII?

The NFL declared their Super Bowl pregame lineup a week ago, and fans across the country have been excited about how the trio fares. The lineup features pop sensation and veteran artist Reba McEntire as well as Post Malone, an artist who has garnered a lot of attention in the past decade.

Reba McEntire will be setting the tone for the proceedings with the national anthem before the start of the game. With the recent renditions of “Star Spangled Banner” not being up to expectations, a classic rendition might just do the trick for the Las Vegas crowd.

“Las Vegas, baby! But isn’t the real gamble whether these performances will outshine the game? Talk about raising the stakes!” quipped one user on X (formerly Twitter) expressing her excitement for the 11th of February.

NFL’s ‘black national anthem’ decision divides fans

In keeping with the Super Bowl traditions going on for decades, the NFL has included the black national anthem, “Lift every voice and sing” in their pre-game lineup. However, this decision has not gone down well with spectators across the country. Some are of the opinion that there is no need for a separate anthem for the African-American community.

“When did Lift Every Voice become a part of our history? We have one national anthem if you’re an American. This nonsense is another reason people stopped watching,” said one user on X reacting to the decision.

Radio host Larry Elder also made a remark that echoed the sentiment of a certain faction of the NFL community. “Sigh… While they’re at it, how about the University of Michigan fight song?” said Elder.
