Following a record-setting college career, Charlie Jones headed to his NFL journey with the Cincinnati Bengals this season after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft. In his rookie season, the former Purdue wide receiver flashed his potential during the Bengals preseason contest.
The Bengals’ veteran player Ja’Marr Chase seems to find comfort in the knowledge that the team has, at last, secured a young player who can serve as an important instrument for Joe Burrow in the event of his (Ja’Marr) absence after witnessing Jones’ God-gifted talent.
Ja’Marr Chase sees a potential star in rookie Charlie Jones
Since his draft pick in the 2021 NFL draft, Chase has been working to establish himself as the ideal support system for his friend Burrow much owing to whose help, he got the chance to play with the Bengals.
Through winning the NFL AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021, he showed his prowess. Yet, per the receiver, the Bengals’ receiver room which is already strengthened with Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd, needs an extra boost that he thinks the Bengals already have got in the guise of rookie Jones.
According to Paul Denher Jr. of Athletic.com, Charlie Jones is the beneficiary of one of Burrow’s best throws. The reporter claims that Ja’Marr also sees a lot of potential in the young player.
“Ja’Marr Chase commented Burrow is about to make Jones a star,” the report says.

Prior to playing in the NFL, he had a distinguished career at Purdue, where his 1,361 yards were second in the country and his 110 catches were among the highest in college football.
Jones shines in preseason finale against Commanders
In their last preseason game, the Cincinnati Bengals took on the Washington Commanders, who defeated the Cincy to finish the preseason campaign with a 21-19 defeat. Although they lost, their young wide receiver, who caught three passes on three targets for 32 yards, seems to have given them a bunch of hope regarding their receiver room.
In the Bengals’ three preseason games, the rookie receiver left the field showing a satisfactory and promising look. In the Bengals’ 13-13 preseason draw with the Falcons, he had four receptions on six targets for 36 yards prior to the commander’s game.
It will be interesting to see if Charlie Jones can live up to all the praise he is receiving from the likes of Chase and maintain his rather impressive numbers.
