There was a time when Ant was just like every other kid who loved basketball and got into the team with the ambition of making the NBA one day. Anthony Edwards was different; however, his drive to succeed and ambition to win set him apart from the rest and he was recognized right from the get-go.

Jason Williams, one of the NBA’s flashiest passers, took his time to narrate an incident that occurred when he was coaching a high school. Not knowing who Edwards was or knowing the reputation Ant had, Williams left him on the bench. But right after tipoff, Williams was called by the tournament’s head, who educated him on Ant and told him that Ant was the number 1 player in the country. Asking no further questions, ‘White Chocolate’ immediately put him into the game and never bothered subbing him off, allowing him to play his own game.

After a few years, to Williams’ surprise, Anthony Edwards erupted as the number 1 pick of his draft class, truly making Williams proud.

Playing in his best season ever, the young superstar is averaging 26.1 points per game, coupled with 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists. One of the key occurrences in Edwards career has been the constant comparisons to the basketball legend Michael Jordan.

Williams, however, adopted a different approach and chose to compare Anthony Edwards to Tracy McGrady, a truly fitting comparison. In his time, there was no one like T-Mac, so smooth, yet so ruthless, so vicious, yet so graceful. It’s almost like the normal person is like, ‘They’re not even trying,’ like, just think how good they could be if they really tried,” Jason Williams said. He added, “That’s what I think a lot of people think about T-Mac. Everything was so easy. So I think maybe Ant-Man’s a little more bouncy, even though T-Mac had bounce. But more explosive, I think, maybe than T-Mac. But I see a lot of similarities there.”

With the Wolves having one of their best seasons to date, this could be the year where the team marches on to win the coveted NBA championship.
