Roman Reigns, widely regarded as one of the best WWE wrestlers, has occasionally found himself in hot water due to his competitive nature. While he consistently strives to deliver the best performance for his audience and maintain his position at the top of the roster, there was a time when he faced accusations of sabotaging a spot in a women’s division match simply because he wanted to perform in the same spot.
Despite fewer controversies in recent times, Reigns has faced such challenges during his career, especially when he wasn’t in his current role as The Tribal Chief.
When Roman Reigns made WWE cancel Nia Jax’s major spot
Roman Reigns has always been involved in backstage controversies ever since his debut in WWE. One such incident took place during the 2020 Survivor Series PLE, which featured a 5 vs. 5 women’s elimination match between Team SmackDown and Team Raw.
Lana and Nia Jax were participants from Team Raw. Although the match was iconic, there was a part of it that got excluded due to Roman’s involvement in the creative plans of the match.
Several reports claimed that Roman Reigns decided to cut a crucial table spot from the women’s match that Lana and Nia had planned. This decision was allegedly made because Reigns wanted to perform a similar spot during his match against Drew McIntyre later that night. Before this, there were reports of an argument between Nia Jax and Roman Reigns backstage regarding the table spot.
In 2023, Nia was interviewed about the argument and the table spot. She revealed that Lana was supposed to perform that spot until last-minute creative changes occurred. When asked about Roman’s involvement in the decision, Nia sarcastically said, “Who knows.” This suggests that the Head of the Table may have been involved.
Is Roman Reings’ cousin Nia Jax?
Roman Reigns and Nia Jax are both part of the Samoan Anoa’i family, but their family relations are not straightforward. The Anoa’i family has two sides. One side is led by the legendary “High Chief” Peter Maivia, while the other side is led by Amituanai Anoa’i.
Nia Jax belongs to the side of Peter Maivia, while Roman Reigns falls directly under Amituanai Anoa’i. Although they were not technically related, Amituanai Anoa’i and Peter Maivia called themselves “blood brothers” and considered themselves to be part of the same family.
Roman Reigns and Nia Jax are not directly related, but they are part of the same extended family. Nia Jax is the second cousin of The Rock. Specifically, her father was the first cousin of Peter Maivia, who was The Rock’s grandfather.
Afa and Sika, also known as the Wild Samoans, are the sons of Amituanai Anoa’i, and Roman Reigns is the son of Sika. Rikishi and the Usos are also part of this family, along with Umaga and Rosey, who have both passed away. Rosey was Roman Reigns’ brother, while Umaga was Rikishi’s.
In addition, WWE Hall of Famer Yokozuna is also part of this family. The phrase “Blood Brother” has been utilized to emphasize the close relationship between Peter Maivia’s side of the family and the Anoa’i family. The Anoa’i family has a rich history in the wrestling industry spanning several decades.
