CM Punk labelled “worst fighter in UFC history” after his UFC 298 appearance

Following last year’s merger between the UFC and WWE, players from both sectors found common ground in the sports world. The man who branded himself on both platforms is CM Punk. After leaving MMA for good in 2021, Punk has recently been spotted on the scene, but not as a seasoned fighter.

An injury he sustained during the Royal Rumble has forced him to miss a certain amount of time competing in WWE events. But following his appearance in UFC 298, he made waves in the MMA press, with fans remembering his MMA background and branding him the “worst fighter in UFC history.”

Fans troll CM Punk following his UFC 298 attendance

A new featherweight champion was crowned at the conclusion of UFC 298, which took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event was attended by a large throng of fans as well as other celebrities. Ex-wrestling champion CM Punk, who is famous for his spectacular entrances and unexpected plot twists in WWE, was one of the important people who attended the major UFC event.

As a result of picking a triceps injury that he acquired at the Royal Rumble, Punk is now unable to compete at WrestleMania 40. However, he is still active outside of WWE, as seen by his latest appearance at UFC 298. His expression on camera was one of frustration, however, and it may have been a reflection of his feelings over the fact that his injuries had prevented him from participating in WWE and any possible mixed martial arts events.

But fans took it the other way around, as one fan wrote on Twitter:

Punk’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career has given him a title that is less flattering than his wrestling character. Some fans troll him as the “worst player in history” owing to the difficulties he has had during his MMA career.

CM Punk’s UFC record

CM Punk’s unusual run in the UFC began in 2014 and ended in 2020 when he returned to professional wrestling with AEW. Many fans were perplexed when he joined the UFC despite having little preparation and no combat experience. His record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is now 0-1-1, with a defeat to Mickey Gall and a fight against Mike Jackson that was ruled a no-contest.

In September 2016, Punk debuted in the UFC and lost by submission in the first round against Gall. He fought Jackson again at UFC 225 in June 2018, however, he was defeated by a unanimous decision. This was his second fight. But the result was changed to a no contest after Jackson’s triumph was reversed because of a failing drug test. Regardless of the criticism he received, Punk should be commended for his courage in entering the Octagon, especially considering the difficulties he had in the UFC.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
