Gunther cast doubts on his WWE match with Brock Lesner: “I dont know we’ll see Brock again”

When Brock Lesner was included in Vince McMahon’s latest lawsuit, it caused quite a stir in the WWE world. Because of the shock value of his involvement, he withdrew from the 2024 Royal Rumble without giving fans any notice. Therefore, one particular WWE star’s much-anticipated matchup with Lesner is now uncertain.

Following the lawsuit, Brock Lesner has not made any televised appearances since his SummerSlam fight against Cody Rhodes, and it looks like WWE is progressively distancing itself from him. Due to this uncertainty, the Ring General doubts if he will face Lesner anytime soon.

Gunther questioned his WWE fight against Brock Lesner

Everyone knows that the Gunther vs. Brock Lesner bout at WrestleMania 40 was supposed to be the most exciting one yet. Unfortunately, Brock’s involvement with the Vince McMahon controversy has caused WWE to distance itself from him, therefore his attendance at the event is very uncertain.

At last year’s Royal Rumble, The Ring General and The Beast Incarnate had an interaction that suggested they may face off. Plans have changed because of current accusations against Lesner, even if his rivalry with Dominik Mysterio and a showdown with Gunther were already planned.

After their heated confrontation at the Royal Rumble, Gunther began to refer to The Beast as his greatest opponent. The Ring General told GVWire, “I always was vocal about my dream match in the past, but that fell through now. I don’t know if we’ll see Brock again if that’s ever going to happen, but I’m wide open when it comes to that as of now.”

The Intercontinental Champion is still very much looking forward to the possibility of a bout with Lesner, even if WWE has decided to not include him in any forthcoming events. Fans are left wondering about the fate of Gunther’s WrestleMania opponent, as WWE could have other plans for them.

What happened to Brock Lesner?

Former WWE superstar Brock Lesner had just shifted his focus to coaching up-and-coming wrestlers when his career took a surprising turn. He wanted to do his part for the business by collaborating with new performers, but the Vince McMahon scandal ended that.

The lawsuit that was filed against Vince McMahon in January 2024 included an unidentified WWE Superstar, which sparked discussion regarding the possible participation of Lesner. It didn’t take long for Lesner to be cut from all things WWE-related, including merchandising and video games, thereby ending any hopes of his comeback to the ring. His once stellar reputation took a serious hit amid the controversy, and WWE eventually wanted nothing to do with him.

The controversy exposed deeper problems inside WWE, including power dynamics and a lack of responsibility, going beyond Lesner’s personal situation. Public scrutiny cast doubt on Lesner’s wrestling future, signaling a major decline in his career and standing in the professional wrestling community.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
