The Saudi Pro League clubs have clearly made Liverpool players their top targets. They have already snatched a handful of their first-team starters; Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, and Fabinho have all given in to their enticing offers, but the SPL is not done. They are on to Mo Salah and are not stopping.
Al-Ittihad keeps improving its bid for Mo Salah. They plan to make him Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement in the Saudi Pro League, but they are met with fierce resistance as Liverpool considers the Egyptian talisman a crucial member of the team.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp calms Mo Salah’s Al Ittihad speculation
The Saudi Pro League has organized a massive raid on Europe’s top football stars this transfer window. A Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema, and one of the best players in the world, Neymar Jr., are only a few of the stars that have left Europe for Saudi Arabia this summer.
Liverpool is set to be the most affected by the Saudi raid if they lose their main man, Mo Salah. A few offers have come for the player, and some have been rejected to date.
Initially, Al Ittihad prepared a salary worth £180 million for a two-year contract, while Liverpool would receive £60 million in transfer fees. However, Liverpool refused. Mo Salah’s representative also maintained that the 31-year-old Liverpool forward would remain at the club this summer, but Al Ittihad never gave up as they improved their offer.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Al-Ittihad soon returned with another eye-watering offer to try to sweep Salah and Liverpool off their feet, but they stood firm. According to the Sun, the offer stood at £100 million, including a comprehensive package of a five-year contract featuring a substantial basic salary of nearly £100 million, a private jet or unlimited plane tickets for the player’s family, etc.
Mo Salah remains the subject of intense transfer speculation as Al Ittihad launched yet another ‘ridiculous’ offer for the player. The recent offer stands at £150 million ($190m) for Mohamed Salah. Al Ittihad is willing to pay Salah £1.5 million per week.
However, Jurgen Klopp maintains that “the position remains the same, absolutely. No doubt about that. We cannot (sell Salah). That’s how it is. Nothing else to say.”
But Al Ittihad are now prepared to go even higher as they prepare a £200m offer for the player. Paul Merson of Supersport makes his prediction that £200m will be ‘irresistible’ as Mo Salah will leave before the end of the Saudi transfer window.
Liverpool supporters respect Mo Salah’s club commitment
Despite Al Ittihad’s unwavering interest in Mo Salah, Liverpool’s director, Mike Gordon, firmly conveyed to Al-Ittihad that they had no inclination to entertain the offer or engage in any negotiation proceedings. Although Liverpool is resolute in their stance against entering negotiations, reports suggest that the Saudi club intends to persist in their pursuit of a deal.
However, a couple of weeks ago, Salah’s company also said that they have no intention of leaving Liverpool: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”
