Sean Strickland follows in Conor McGregor’s footsteps and wants to run for Congress after UFC retirement

Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC champion, has ventured into business and politics, garnering attention for both endeavors. Known for his controversial and outspoken remarks, McGregor recently expressed interest in becoming the President of the Republic of Ireland.

Surprisingly, this announcement was met with a positive response. Now, a former UFC champion has declared his intention to follow in the footsteps of the Irishman. See what transpired below.

Sean Strickland expresses desire to run for Congress

Sean Strickland, the former UFC middleweight champion, announced his intention to run for Congress in the USA, citing recent events in the country that he perceived as injustices. Strickland recently endorsed the Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump during the former President’s visit to Las Vegas, and the two even had a hilarious face-off.

“I’ve never asked for anything but please let me run for Congress after MMA please!!!!”Strickland tweeted via his official X. “I mean senators own a fuck ton of War stocks…I mean senator owns a bunch of pharmaceutical stock,” Strickland added, pointing out the reasons why he wants to run for Congress as there is a conflict of interest in Congress as Senators are involved with big pharmaceutical industries and also with military-industrial complex.

“I mean senator wants to throw you in jail for pronouns…I mean senator’s husband owns the fucking company in the bill,” Strickland further tweeted about the scenarios that would transpire in Congress when he would be reading the bill.

Strickland is coming off a split decision loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 which many including Strickland and his fans felt was robbed by the judges. The backlash from fans even forced commentator Jon Anik to ponder retirement.

Sean Strickland shares controversial endorsement list

Sean Strickland also announced what he endorsed via another social media tweet. “What I endorse. 1. America first 2. Trans is mental illness 3. Pronouns, gender resignment is child abuse 4. Government stays out of our families 5. Lastly fuck who you want, I just don’t want to be force fed it by beer companies,” tweeted Strickland.

Like former US President Donald Trump, Strickland endorses the America First policy as he had always been proud of his American heritage. His second endorsement of Trans as a mental illness is something he has faced severe criticism, particularly at the pre-fight press conference of UFC 297.

His third and fifth endorsements are connected with the second endorsement as he has extremely conservative views and has always been open about the LGBTQ community as a threat to society.

Strickland’s fourth endorsement is against the intrusive policies of the government which he has always felt was unwarranted, particularly in a free country like the United States of America.
