LeBron James missed out on the golden occasion to face the Warriors on Thursday. The leaderless Lakers fell prey to the San Francisco-based team, but the Lakers’ nation is now eagerly praying for their king to return.
While the NBA’s load management crackdown with the 65-game rule has significantly reduced the player’s chances to skip a game voluntarily, the injury risks have increased according to the players. LeBron became one of the causalities and found himself on the injury list ahead of the Warriors game. But the question remains about his return to fitness and action in further games.
LeBron James’ availability improves vs Spurs
The joint most NBA title-winning team had to face the Warriors without their ace player, LeBron James. Having struggled to play for long in the NBA All-Star Games because of his left ankle, the 39-year-old scored only 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in a game that recorded the highest points in All-Star history.
The Lakers legend picked up the injury on a regular season game against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 14. The Warriors took advantage of his absence and made the team suffer a 128-110 loss. After winning a special challenge in the All-Star weekend the Warriors ace, Stephen Curry set the stage on fire with 32 points, 1 rebound and 8 points and some great balling skills.
Although LeBron James missed the game against the Warriors, according to head coach Darvin Ham, LeBron could be back on the roster to face the San Antonio Spurs. He is currently being treated for peroneal tendinopathy on the left foot so that the big man can come back stronger to chase a specific record.
LeBron James on track to make history with 40000 points
LeBron James is on the verge of being the first NBA player to break his own record and bag a total of 40,000 points. Before entering the All-Star weekend, he already had 39,868 points to his names. Considering his superhero abilities, he will shortly hit the 40k milestone too.
With his impressive stats of 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists so far this season, he is expected to soon close the gap of 132 points. However, his recent injury has hindered his progress. Nevertheless, it seems by his sixth match, against the OKC Thunders, he will reach 40k. His name was added to the list of NBA greats Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Dirk Nowitzki and Wilt Chamberlain who had earlier achieved the 30k landmark.
King James has broken the previously set record of 38,387 points by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and became the only player to score 39,868 points. He will be back on track to make history with 40,000 points.
