Former F1 driver believes Lewis Hamilton to be excluded from Mercedes meeting to support George Russell

Lewis Hamilton will conclude his final season with Mercedes this year, having secured six of his record seven World Championships with the team. Starting in the next season, he will make a significant move to Ferrari.

A former Formula One driver, renowned for his candid approach, has recently commented that this season will be a transitional period for the British driver with Mercedes, as he is set to become an official member of Mercedes soon.

Martin Brundle claims Lewis Hamilton to be oust from Mercedes meetings

Lewis Hamilton was considered one of the most important core members of the team due to his involvement with it since 2013. However, eleven years later, fate has taken an unpredictable turn, with the seven-time World Champion making a huge decision to shift to an Italian-based squad for the 2025 season.

Even though Hamilton has defended himself by claiming that he was simply thinking about the betterment of his career and fulfilling his childhood dream, which he could not have achieved if he had stayed in Mercedes until he retired, some F1 individuals still refused to emphasize this with the 39-year-old’s decision.

Formula One driver Martin Brundle has recently made a brutal statement that it was more likely for Mercedes to corner Hamilton and keep him away from the team’s important decisions since he would not be a permanent figure of the team for a prolonged period. Brundle also claimed that he would no longer be a part of the team’s important meetings, which would be incredibly gruesome for Hamilton.

Martin said, “You’ve got this transition point where Lewis will stop being invited to meetings. He won’t understand what’s going on with the development of the car or in the simulator. The team, consciously and subconsciously, will favour George. They have got to.”

Martin Brundle discusses Lewis Hamilton’s impact on Ferrari

The Sky Sports expert has also discussed the potential impact Lewis Hamilton could have on enhancing Ferrari’s performance. When he was asked about how the British man could influence the Italy-based team, Brundle replied, “Processes, philosophies, how the car works, what he likes, how he likes to sit, what he needs from a car to maximize his talent. He’s got to integrate. That’s hard. He won’t speak the language or know the team like Charles Leclerc does.”

“You need to find out where all the buttons are to press. That’s why Lewis, I think, will want to try to take a few people with him,” Martin added.
