LeBron James provides solution to Lakers’ defensive struggles after brutal Suns defeat: “Crash to help Anthony Davis”

The Los Angeles Lakers have been very inconsistent this season. They have shown glimpses of greatness one day and failure of every strategy the other. Their ace LeBron James weighed in on the matter and provided a solution to his team’s defensive struggles.

LeBron mentioned Anthony Davis and explained what the team must do to get in a better position. Austin Reaves also shared his thoughts on the big man AD and supported him amid the criticism.

LeBron James claims Lakers need to assist Anthony Davis to win games

Lakers ace LeBron James recently shared his views on the defensive struggles of the Lakers. “They spread out your defense a lot so you are out on the perimeter a lot. You have to contest a lot of 3s,” said Bron according to Daniel Starkand.

He continued, “We have got to do a better job as guards and forwards. We need to come back and try to crash to help AD. There were a lot of long rebounds, a lot of rebounds that went over AD’s head and Nurk (Jusuf Nurkic) was able to push him up under the rim and get those offensive rebounds.”

“I do not think we had talked about that enough before the game and had a point of emphasis on him crashing. So we will do better of that going forward in the future. We have been better with it as of late. Today it hurts. But we have been better.”

He claimed that the Lakers need to assist their big man Anthony Davis more, providing him with the much-needed support under the rim.

King James highlighted mistakes that happened in the game against the Suns. He called out the advantage Jusuf Nurkic was able to get over AD because the Lakers’ guards and forwards were not crashing back to help their big man. However, he pointed out that the squad will work on it and even though the loss hurts, they are in a better situation lately.

Austin Reaves on Anthony Davis recent performance

Lakers rising star Austin Reaves also shared his views on Anthony Davis and his game recently. “It was a slow start for him, but what he demands on the floor is the attention, the defensive effort, are the contesting shots… I do not think AD can have a ‘horrible’ half just because of what he means defensively,” said Reaves according to Lakers Nation.

He emphasized that Anthony Davis, given his stature, cannot afford to have a poor half. He lauded the big man’s skills and acknowledged that the team did a better job of involving him in the second half.

With increased awareness of his presence, AD was able to assert himself offensively after halftime. Amid criticism directed at Davis for the Lakers’ loss against the Suns, Reaves stepping up for his teammates was a positive sight. Austin and AD have both previously expressed their perspectives on the Lakers’ challenges.
