After UFC 300, Dana White is making headlines again, this time for UFC 306. The UFC president aims to hold the event at Las Vegas’s Sphere, a venue that has not hosted a main event thus far. While the card for UFC 306 hasn’t been revealed yet, anticipation is building for what promises to be another thrilling UFC event.
But on September 14th, fans can surely expect to see tough fights lined up as it will be the first main event there after Dana White found success in the UFC fight Night Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 Mexican Fighters card, reaching a larger audience.
Dana White has confirmed that Las Vegas Sphere will host UFC 306
Following the success of the September 16, 2023 event, Dana White has been discussing the possibility of hosting a major event at the Las Vegas Sphere. While some fans anticipated a significant event in 2024, the big news from the UFC CEO is that he intends to feature UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere, promising a blockbuster fight card for the occasion.
UFC 306 is set to coincide with the celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day, which falls on September 27th. Building on the success of last year’s fight night event featuring Mexican fighters on American soil, the decision has been made to bring the excitement to the Las Vegas Sphere with the first-ever UFC main event at the venue.
As Dana White confirmed, UFC 306 will be in this year’s fall, i.e., on September 14th. White earlier also mentioned, “Conor will fight this year. I’m thinking of the fall, sometime in the fall. He won’t be on UFC 300.”
Conor Mcgregor might make his return to the UFC in the fall as well. So, it can be expected that at UFC 306, McGregor might feature the main event.
Las Vegas Sphere: construction cost and total capacity?
According to Sportskeeda, the Las Vegas Sphere has a capacity to accommodate up to 20,000 attendees, with 18,600 seats already installed. The arena has a spherical shape and is equipped with a 16K LED screen. While no fights have been officially announced for the UFC 306 card, fans can anticipate the participation of numerous Mexican fighters in the event.
The Sphere, located in Paradise, Nevada, United States, officially opened its doors on September 23, 2023. This impressive structure stands 366 feet tall and spans 516 feet wide, with construction costs totaling $2.3 billion. In 2024, the venue is set to host the ice hockey 2024 NHL Entry Draft and also the UFC 306 event.
The card may not have been announced, but to get featured on this sphere, many of the fighters might approach UFC president Dana White to make the UFC 306 card.
