The rivalry between The Rock and Cody Rhodes, has become one of the greatest and personal rivalries in WWE history. It all started at the WrestleMania 40 : Kickoff press conference, when The Rock slapped Rhodes after his heated words against Rock’s family. Since then both superstars started to confront each other on social media.
Despite the escalating tension, there is yet to be an official confirmation of The Rock’s appearance at WrestleMania 40. However, WWE has unveiled The Rock’s schedule for the upcoming SmackDown episodes.

History has been made in the latest SmackDown episode, The Rock, officially joined The Bloodline. WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns, along with Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso, acknowledged The Rock as the new member of The Bloodline. In an unexpected turn of events, WWE has officially announced The Rock’s appearance on the next three consecutive SmackDown episodes.
The Rock’s presence will commence this Friday at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale and will continue for every SmackDown episode until March 15th. Previously, The Rock was believed to be a part of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, but the CCO of WWE, Triple H announced that Rock will not be a part of the event, due to his busy schedule.
In his latest appearance, The Rock stunned WWE fans by embracing his heel persona, the Hollywood Rock. Throughout the entire promo, Rock engaged in verbal sparring with Cody Rhodes and also targeted the fans in attendance. With only 40 days left for the grandest stage, Rock’s continuous appearance has increased the expectation among the WWE fans, who are eagerly waiting for his next announcement.
Is the Rock vs Cody Rhodes happening?
The tension between The Rock and The American Nightmare has reached a boiling point, and the fans are excited to see a match between them. Rhodes, who won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, stepped down from challenging Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
Shockingly, during the press conference, Rhodes selected Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent, sparking anger from The Rock and escalating tensions. In response to Rock’s SmackDown promo, Rhodes issued a challenge to The Rock during the Grayson Waller Effect at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, stating, “any time, any place.”
There were also rumors spreading claiming a possible tag team match between The Rock and Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Rollins, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has aligned himself with Rhodes to finish the story at WrestleMania 40.
While there hasn’t been an official confirmation regarding a match between Rock and Rhodes, The Rock’s consistent appearances in WWE strongly suggest that The Brahma Bull will indeed be part of WrestleMania 40 and will cost Rhodes, the WWE Undisputed Championship.
