As a sport, American football is steeped in history, with the legacy of triumphant players rewriting their destinies and inspiring millions in the process. The likes of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Vince Lombardi come to mind when talking about the greatest players of all time. However, every year, we see a few emerge from the current crop of players and become stars of the sport over time.
Enter Donald De La Haye, a.k.a. Deestroying, who is looking to make a name for himself in the football circuit. As it turns out, the youngster might have already created a starting spot for himself with one of the XFL outfits.
Who is Deestroying?
Donald De La Haye rose to fame from his YouTube channel, “Deestroying,” where he began posting clips about his life as a college footballer at the University of Central Florida. However, he sparked controversy when the NCAA informed him that he could not get any money from it and still remain an amateur collegiate athlete. Consequently, Donald chose to quit playing football and dedicate all his time to working on YouTube.
Now, as it turns out, Deestroying might be making his way to the UFL, playing as a starting kicker for the San Antonio Brahmas. This is a huge step for someone who chose to quit football years ago and still continued his love for the sport. It also stands as a testament to the fact that hard work and a drive to succeed rarely go unnoticed.
Is Deestroying making it into UFL?
As soon as the news of De La Haye making it to the UFL hit social media, it unleashed a barrage of congratulatory messages for the YouTuber. One user echoed the sentiment by saying, “Wow, a YouTuber as a kicker? That’s gonna be interesting to watch!” while another quipped, “Dope, fantastic and top-quality player.”
According to FOX Sports, Deestroying talked about making it big with the San Antonio Brahmas in his latest video on YouTube. “I could cry right now, bro,” he said, before reading a text asking him to kick for the Brahmas.
“This whole entire time I was trying to figure out what my options are,” he said. “Maybe I have some eligibility left to go back to college. I might get an NFL tryout. Maybe I have to go to USFL, maybe I have to go play in Europe. Do something. And literally in this moment is where it all just became clear.”
