Jake Elliott agrees to Eagles contract extension
The Philadelphia Eagles have solidified their special teams unit by extending the contract of kicker Jake Elliott for four more years, securing his presence in the team until 2028. This significant move sees his deal valued at up to $24 million, placing him at the top of the market alongside Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in terms of average annual value.
With Elliott’s extension, the Eagles have now successfully secured their kicker, punter, and long-snapper within just two days.
The 29-year-old boasts an impressive career with the Eagles, ranking second in franchise history in field goals made (168) and third in total points scored (775). Throughout his seven-year tenure, he has demonstrated remarkable accuracy, boasting an 86.2% success rate on field goals, including an impressive 26 successful attempts from beyond 50 yards.
Meanwhile, his contributions have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his selection to the NFC Pro Bowl team in 2021 and recognition as a second-team All-Pro last season.
The journey with the Eagles began for the vet defensive player in 2017 when he was signed off the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad following an injury to Caleb Sturgis in Week 1 of the season. Jake Elliott set multiple single-season records, including the highest field goal percentage at an impressive 93.8% and the most 50-plus-yard field goals with seven last season. The vet kicker put forward his reliability by converting 45 of 46 extra-point attempts, accumulating a total of 135 points over 17 games.
One of the standout moments of his season came in Week 2 when he tied his own franchise-long 61-yard field goal during the home opener against the Minnesota Vikings. The former Bengals player further cemented his status as a clutch performer with his historic game-winning kick against Washington. In overtime, he nailed a 54-yard field goal, marking the longest OT-winning kick in Eagles history.
Week 12 brought yet another memorable performance from Elliott, as he converted a challenging 59-yard field goal against the Buffalo Bills in adverse weather conditions.
