Earlier this month, Rey Mysterio’s comeback to “WWE SmackDown” after months of being out with an injury was a surprise that left fans in a state of elation. Since Santos Escobar created all the ruckus and Mysterio was back in action, anticipation was high for a showdown between the two rivals on this week’s SmackDown.
WWE fans were glued to their seats during the segment, especially when Dominik Mysterio stepped in and helped Escobar by turning against his father again. It seems like the rivalry between father and son will intensify again with Escobar in the mix.
Dominik helps Santos Escober to defeat Ray Mysterio
This week’s WWE SmackDown in Memphis began with a controversial victory for Santos Escobar against the 619 master Rey Mysterio. Their alliance turned sour when Escobar deceived Rey in November of last year, forcing the Hall of Famer to have knee surgery and forfeit five months of activity. Then, on March 1, Rey made an unannounced visit in order to get vengeance by helping Carlito beat Escobar. Their hatred became much more intense after that segment, which led to a showdown on the SmackDown program that aired on March 22.
Now that none of their groups could be present at the ringside area, Rey and Escobar fought a level-playing but very competitive bout. The former United States champion seemed unstoppable with his trademark moves until a masked guy stepped in and gave Escobar the unfair victory.
Surprisingly, the masked figure was none other than Dominik Mysterio, Rey’s son and a member of the Judgment Day faction. Not to mention, this erratic addition of Dirty Dom on this show will lead to an unexpected turn in the continuing saga. On Smackdown, he’s pushing his heel persona to the extreme, that continues to make his fatherâs life a living nightmare.
Dominik Mysterio continues to make his fatherâs life hell on Smackdown
Dominik Mysterio’s crippling hatred for his father is on full display in every WWE episode. Ever since he betrayed Rey at âWWE Clash At The Castleâ to join Judgment Day, Dom Dom became a constant source of misery for Rey at every place, even at family reunions. Every mean comment he makes and the rivalry he forms against Rey illustrates how much he hates his dad.Â
He recently teamed up with Santos Escobar on SmackDown to beat 49-year-old, which shocked fans and faction member Rhea Ripley. No matter how confusing things are, Dominik’s deeds are clear: he hates his father. This extreme hatred raises questions about the father-and-son on-screen relationship.
Dominik’s next move is now the focus of everyone’s attention. His father’s wrestling career on SmackDown would be a living nightmare if he joined Legado Del Fantasma and set up an altercation with Rey at WrestleMania.
