WWE Speed Championship: how will the winner be decided?

The WWE is all about giving wrestling fans what they want: epic battles, unexpected twists, and showstopping entertainment.  They’re constantly cooking up new projects to spice things up, and this time it’s a brand-new WWE Speed Championship title up for grabs.

The pilot installment ran in December 2023, but the full-fledged series of this championship is about to premiere very soon. Additionally, there will be more mystery for viewers since this tournament won’t be broadcast on a network like classic events like NXT, RAW, and SmackDown.

Everything to know about WWE Speed Championship

At the SmackDown tapings in December 2023, WWE tried out a new idea dubbed “WWE Speed” with matches that lasted only five minutes. During the February 2024 WrestleMania press conference, Michael Cole revealed the show’s specifics, which will be broadcast exclusively in the spring on social media platform X.

Today, Corey Graves announced on X that WWE Speed Championship matches will last 3 minutes and premiere on April 3, just two days before WrestleMania 40. Unlike traditional shows, the drama and excitement of these wrestling matches will be packed into a super-short format, with the winner becoming the WWE Speed Champion.

The SmackDown commentator stated on Twitter, “3 intense, adrenaline-fueled minutes where strategy, agility, and strength collide. This isn’t just another match; this is a sprint to the finish line. The prize? The prestigious, first-ever WWE Speed Championship. So brace yourself for a tournament like no other where every match is a finale, every second could define a Superstar’s legacy. WWE Speed, April 3, exclusively on X.”

The rules and wrestlers are still under wraps, but one thing is certain: it’s going to be an exciting journey. Fans are holding out hope for an interesting addition to WWE programming and they are waiting for additional details and the unveiling of the title design. Fans are already showing interest in the show, but some aren’t sure how the wrestlers will show off their skills and build excitement in such a short amount of time.

What do fans think about WWE Speed Championship?

The new WWE Speed Championship is generating a lot of excitement within the WWE Universe. Wrestling fans have been raving about it ever since Corey Graves announced this on social media. Most people are really excited about the idea of super-fast wrestling.

One fan, fabien_fichaux, tweeted, “Like this concept cannot wait.”  Others, like Masked J, are hoping the show lives up to the hype.  Cigano summed it up perfectly: “3 min bangers on X? Curious to see how this all shakes out.” However, some are doubtful of the initiative since they fail to see how wrestlers can display their full talents in the allotted time frame.

STAMPLE raised doubts about the purpose of this championship, asking, “What is the purpose of this? Half the roster can’t even get a WrestleMania match.” Meanwhile, Kiki compared it to the failure of the WWE 24/7 Championship.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
