Soccer stars like Lionel Messi are the best in the world, and give their best performances every week for club and country. It is a very difficult job to maintain that consistent performance the whole season, and it can be quite taxing on the players too.
At the end of the day, even these mega soccer superstars are human beings and need to relax. Some spend time with their family, others have hobbies and love to entertain themselves. Messi is no different and the World Champion even has a favorite TV show.
Lionel Messi reveals his favorite TV series
Lionel Messi has revealed that his all time favorite TV show is HBO’s Game of Thrones. He confirmed it in a recent interview and even said he has watched it several times, “Game of Thrones. I’ve watched it more than once.”
The fantasy show ran from April 2011 to May 2019, and was very popular worldwide. It was well received around the whole globe, and is considered one of the best TV shows of all time. One may be surprised that Messi’s favorite show is Game of Thrones, considering it is an American show.
But you would be mistaken if you believe he has started watching it after he moved to United States of America. Messi and his wife Antonela Rocuzzo have previously met up with Kit Harrington who plays one of the show’s main character Jon Snow. It was during his time at Paris Saint Germain, and they had met when the club hosted Benfica in a Champions League group stage game. They took a picture together and Messi’s wife Antonela then posted the picture of the three on her Instagram.
Is Lionel Messi creating his own animated series?
Lionel Messi is also making an animated series himself, which is named ‘Messi and the Giants’. It will depict Messi as a 12 year old child, and the series is being made alongside Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television – Kids.
Messi said that it was a dream come true for him, “Since I was a child, I have always loved animated series and my children are big fans of animated characters. Being able to participate in an animated project makes me happy, because it fulfils one of my dreams.”
He has earlier shared a short trailer on his social media platforms, and it seems to be focused mainly at kids and young teenagers. It will be focused on themes of hard work, and how to overcome obstacles, and be a great team player.
According to a review, the series “depicts a 12-year-old Messi as he confronts various obstacles while traveling throughout a video game on a quest to go home.” The animated series will be available in multiple languages including English and Spanish to resonate with audiences everywhere. No release date has been confirmed yet, and there are rumors of other big stars appearing in the series, though further details will be released in the future.
Lionel Messi will now focus on his next game with Inter Miami against New York City tomorrow. However, there is doubt whether he will play.
