What’s Chelsea’s plan for Benoit Badiashile?
Benoit Badiashile is expected to stay at the club next season, with the Blues not planning to sell him just yet. Instead, they have planned to let go of Trevor Chalobah this summer, along with some other exits. They had already rejected some approaches for him in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old first arrived in January last year for a fee of €38 million from French club Monaco. While it was seen as a bargain at the time, it seems he hasn’t lived up to the lofty expectations of the fans. The Frenchman was pretty good for Chelsea last season but has not had the same impact this season.

A series of injuries have prevented him from reaching his best potential, and he has not played many minutes under Mauricio Pochettino. Indeed, he has only played 13 times this season and has only gotten more minutes at the club due to the injury of Wesley Fofana. The player is still thought to be able to improve next season and the fact that he only arrived one year ago has convinced the club to not let go of him this summer.
AC Milan allegedly offered Benoit Badiashile during January
According to renowned soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan were one of the clubs most interested in Benoit Badiashile. They were eager to get him during the January transfer window, but were rejected by Chelsea. Apparently, a loan deal was agreed with the player, but the club rejected it. There are rumors they will try again this summer transfer window to improve their defensive problems.

Milan have not made any indication that they will try for the player again, but if they do so, Chelsea may contemplate selling the player. If the Italian side offers a good financial deal, they may decide to accept it after all. However, it is only in the summer that we will see a final conclusion to this transfer saga.
