Coby White joins Michael Jordan in exclusive list with latest statline in Bulls vs Hawks

Coby White, with his stellar performance, led the Chicago Bulls to a dominant 131-116 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in their first game of the play-in tournament. The guard took responsibility for the franchise’s offense and executed it to perfection, pulling the Eastern side a step closer to the playoff series.

The Chicago franchise flaunted their polished offense from the opening quarter by adding 40 points to their names whereas the Hawks trailed by 18 points. White, who was on fire Wednesday night, entertained the United Center’s crowd by scoring his career-high 42 points.

The 24-year-old attempted 21 shots from the floor, out of which 15 made a difference on the score board. He would have finished with a double-double, had he grabbed one more rebound.

With his 42 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 0 turnovers, White joined the Bulls legend, Michael Jordan, as the only player in the franchise’s history to have recorded 40+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 0 turnovers in a single game. Although there’s a long way to go for the youngster to join the legendary figure, Coby did a phenomenal job showcasing his potential when the team needed it the most.

Those who did not watch the game might think it was all stat padding from the Bulls Guard, but to diminish the war between eyes and ears, Coby White left his mark with an amazing sequence deep into the game.

Coby White’s unreal sequence vs Hawks goes viral

In a sequence in the third quarter, Coby sent the crowd in attendance into a frenzy. With 2:11 to go on the clock, Coby drove into the Hawks area and found himself surrounded by 4 white shirts. Without breaking his flow, the 24-year-old guard beautifully spun inside the paint to evade his opponents before putting the ball through the basket for an emphatic layup finish.

As the crowd went bananas, 10 seconds later, White again worked his magic. Javonte Green’s attempted shot from downtown rebounded off the rim and with two Hawks defenders around, Coby jumped to snatch the rebound and smoothly passed it to an oncoming Green, who made no mistake this time to convert.

With this performance, Coby White proved again why he is one of the contenders for the most improved player of the season award and the Bulls will be begging for more of the same when they face the Heat on Friday.
