“He’s got the KD timing”: Victor Wembanyama aims to download special Kevin Durant move during offseason

Victor Wembanyama, in his debut season, has taken the league by storm. The rookie sensation not only posted massive numbers but also went toe-to-toe with the Olympian Gods of the NBA and interjecting himself into the history books. He is yet to reach his sky-high potential, but the Frenchman is already looking for the tools to improve and, incidentally, Kevin Durant possesses one such tool.

In a recent interview with the Ringer, Wemby said, “There’s something [Kevin Durant] does… This one microsecond where he stops, and that’s enough to take advantage of the defender… He’s got the KD timing.”

Wembanyama’s keen study of the game only indicates his will to improve and choosing Durant as a blueprint is not a bad start. Durant himself envisions Victor Wembanyama as the future face of the league and the Spurs center has the exact opportunity to be so if he keeps progressing on an inclining curve.

With KD poised for the game against the Timberwolves on Saturday, Wemby will surely be taking notes to master the KD timing. But KD is not the only player Victor will be keeping his eye on.

Victor Wembanyama picks Nikola Jokic over Durant as harder opponent to guard

Talking about the hardest players to guard in the NBA, Wemby kept Durant in the conversation but voted for Jokic to be the more difficult one to play against.

“Kevin Durant is up there but Jokic as well because yeah, Jokic as well, even though after each game I played him I think I defended him better and better and read his game better and better but I mean I just know he’s gonna come next year with new weapons you know new tricks,” said the Defensive Player of the Year contender.

Jokic and Wembanyama have faced each other 4 times this season and the Nuggets hold a 3-1 record against the Spurs. Wemby was unable to stop the Serbian from going on a scoring spree but earned his respect in the process.

With Wembanyama attempting to master new skills and studying his opponents, it is safe to say, the NBA is yet to see the best version of the 20-year-old.
