NFL Draft 2024 Rumors: Dolphins eye Texas WR Xavier Worthy

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been in the NFL draft scene, especially after clocking an impressive 4.21 time in the 40-yard dash. Several teams are taking notice of his lightning speed, with the Dolphins showing keen interest in adding him to their roster.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer highlighted the Dolphins’ pursuit of Worthy, emphasizing how his addition could further bolster their offensive firepower.

Despite already having one of the fastest wide receivers in the league in Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins’ consideration of adding Worthy to their roster is very interesting. Ranked as the 50th overall prospect and the 9th receiver by Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department, the Longhorns receiver is anticipated to be picked by the Indianapolis Colts at No. 46 in the upcoming draft.

Yet, with the Miami team holding the No. 21 pick, their interest in Worthy might prompt them to consider selecting him in the first round. This move could potentially offer the team an additional offensive weapon and provide them with flexibility in their lineup in the coming years.

Which other NFL teams are in the mix to draft Xavier Worthy?

Interestingly, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers are also rumored to be potential destinations for Xavier Worthy. The Chiefs can also try to secure the services of Worthy, which Breer disclosed in a later part of his discussion.

The Chiefs, who faced receiver struggles last season, see the receiver as a potential solution to their offensive woes amid Rashee Rice’s legal trouble. With drops and miscues plaguing the team, Worthy’s speed and skill set could provide the Chiefs with the edge they need to contend for a third consecutive championship.

The Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, has already expressed admiration for Worthy’s talent and even reached out to him personally after witnessing his remarkable feat.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton connected the standout receiver to the Pittsburgh Steelers, emphasizing their pursuit of providing George Pickens with a formidable weapon. Moton raised concerns about Worthy’s size and dropped passes before suggesting that the Pittsburgh Steelers, holding the 20th spot, might be the highest position Worthy can land.
