Hulk Hogan’s claim about discovering the Undertaker fails to match timeline

Hulk Hogan during his heydays was the perfect blueprint of what a WWE superstar should be like. The charisma, the physique, the connection with the crowd, the Hulkster had it all. But one thing about him always bothered the fans and that is his habit of making outrageous claims.

One such claim recently came to the surface where Hogan is seen taking credit for discovering the Undertaker and getting him into the WWE. In a video, the leader of the Hulkamaniacs said, “I was doing a movie called Suburban Commando and we needed a couple of really big aliens, we had one actor and we couldn’t find another guy big enough. So I remembered Mean Mark Calaway from the NWA he was working in Atlanta Georgia for [Jim] Barnett at the time, so I had somebody hunt him down and we brought him to Hollywood and The Undertaker Mark Calaway was one of the bounty hunters in the movie Suburban Commando.”

Now it is worth noting, that while the movie was in production, the Undertaker had already made his debut with the then-World Wrestling Federation. The Deadman debuted in October 1990 and the movie Suburban Commandos was released a year later.

Hogan even took the credit for having Taker signed with the WWE. The two-time WWE Hall Of Famer claimed that he took the 6’10” wrestler to meet with Vince McMahon, who was instantly impressed and gave him the name, the Undertaker. But during an episode of “Six Feet Under” podcast, the Undertaker revealed how he got his ring name from Vince which does not match up with Hogan’s version.

While the timeline given by Hogan does not quite add up, this will not be the first time that the former champion has made some absurd claims.

Hulk Hogan’s claim about son Nick wrestling in WWE debunked

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet last year, Hulk Hogan revealed that his son, Nick Hogan, was supposed to wrestle in WWE. As per Hogan, Shane McMahon asked him about a match at WrestleMania 39, but his ageing body was a problem for the 70-year-old. So he proposed having Nick involved, who trained at Rikishi’s wrestling school. (After 34:33)

Later on, the claim was debunked by Fightful’s Sean Ross, who revealed that a WWE higher-up told him that there was no plan for Nick to feature at WrestleMania 39.

As of the time of writing, the Undertaker is yet to comment on the claim made by Hogan, but if this gets debunked as well, it will be the latest addition to the former NWO member’s long list of absurd claims.
