Paul Pogba’s football career has been going through a tumultuous period as of late. Pogba complained he was not ‘liked’ in England as he faced constant harsh criticism in the Premier League. He returned to Juventus trying to find that ‘acceptance’, but he’s been sidelined due to hamstring and knee injuries. Paul was also a victim of an organized crime of extortion, and now he faces the worst of them all.
Due to suspension, Paul Pogba may not be able to play football for a very long time. Enhanced endurance and strength levels stimulated by drugs are completely illegal in football, and any sportsman found guilty of this may face serious repercussions.
Why did Paul Pogba face a four-year soccer suspension?
Paul Pogba has experienced a torrid time since he made his return to Juventus from Manchester United in 2022. The French midfielder missed the majority of last season due to knee and hamstring injuries.
Pogba now faces an even longer period away from football if found guilty of doping. After the 3-0 win against Udinese, the Juventus midfielder took had to take a doping test and evidence of foul play was detected by the National Anti-doping Prosecutor.
The test on him revealed an elevated level of testosterone, a hormone known to increase an athlete’s endurance. According to reports from Italy, a second round of tests are to be carried out, but while that is underway, Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended from football.
Paul Pogba had previously found himself excluded from the Juventus squad due to disciplinary issues and even considered retiring from football when an organized crime syndicate reportedly targeted him in a blackmail attempt. This season, the midfielder hasn’t started a game yet, but he did make two cameo appearances, with his most recent one being in Juventus’ 2-0 triumph over Empoli on September 3rd.
The statement issued by NADO Italia reads, “In acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Anti-doping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba.”
The tribunal said Pogba was in violation of the anti-doping rules when they found the prohibited substance “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites.” So far, Juventus have not issued any official statement regarding the ongoing controversy around the player.
Paul Pogba considered retiring over alleged armed extortion case
Paul Pogba has revealed that he once contemplated ‘hanging up his boots’ because of a disturbing incident involving an alleged organized and armed extortion attempt. Shockingly, this sinister plot implicated his own brother.
In a troubling turn of events last year, an official investigation was launched into claims that the prominent Juventus and French national team midfielder was at the centre of an extortion scheme, masterminded by his own brother Mathias and a group of childhood friends.
Their audacious demand? A staggering €13 million from the football star.
Out of sheer sadness, Paul said, “Money changes people. … It can break up a family.”
“It can create a war. Sometimes I was just by myself thinking: ‘I don’t want to have money anymore. I don’t want to play anymore. I want to be with normal people so that they will love me for me- not for the fame or the money.’ Sometimes it’s tough.”, he added.
Paul Pogba’s rough patch continues as he could face a four-year suspension from football if found guilty of the ongoing investigation. What are your thoughts on the fiasco? Share with us below.
