Novak Djokovic withdraws from Toronto National Bank Open citing fatigue after Wimbledon Final loss to Carlos Alcaraz

The twenty-three Grand Slam champ, Novak Djokovic remains the reigning supreme even after his devastating loss in the Wimbledon. He is on a mission to collect as many Grand Slam titles as he possibly can. At 36 years of age, he has 24 major title wins already and absolutely nothing seems to stop his reigns.

This Wimbledon was definitely a setback for the Serbitanor as he was defeated by the young Carlos Alcaraz in a sensation 5-set thriller. Now, the champ has decided to take a break before he comes back to resume his dominance!

Novak Djokovic dropped out of the National Bank Open due to fatigue

Djokovic has drained himself physically and emotionally at the Wimbledon final, especially after the loss. But as always, he is working to get better and come back much stronger. He is already on track to perk up by spending wholesome quality time on vacation with his family. To extend this period of recovery and rejuvenation further, Nole has also announced that he will not be competing in the National Bank Open.

Considering his conquest of Slams, Nole still has one month to prepare for the US Open that begins on 28th August. So, missing this one hardcourt tournament is likely to be insignificant.

However, it is known that Djokovic is on a quest for Grand Slams and that is all that he is focused on. After all, he did come to the Wimbledon finals without having participated in any other grass surface tournament that season. So, this withdrawal might not mean much at all to a champ like him.

Chris Eubanks to automatically enter Toronto National Bank Open main draw

The American pro, Christopher Eubanks’ play in the SW19 last month left the world of tennis completely perplexed. This 27-year-old player hadn’t received much attention in the ATP tour but was able to make it to the grandest tennis stage of all time- the Wimbledon 2023 quarterfinals. Chris went from questioning his career in tennis to inching close to Wimbledon this year.

Due to Nole backing down, this late bloomer gets a direct seat at the main draw of the Toronto Masters. Given his recent win against the new generation stunner, Stephanos Tsitsipas in Wimbledon, Chris Eubanks will need to be heeded from this tour onwards.

What are your thoughts on Nole’s quest for just the major titles? What do you think are his chances of making a comeback again after his loss at Wimbledon?
