The New York Jets star running back Breece Hall had firm faith regarding his comeback to the practice field this summer. From getting carted off the field in Denver last season after tearing his ACL and injuring the meniscus in his left knee, to a 10-month journey of surgically repairing knee, he never lost his optimism to bounce back stronger.
Hall has been successful in his mission by doing his part incredibly in the Jets season opener against the Buffalo Bills. However, the week 2 match was not in his team’s favor, and the RB has some excuses to deliver for their embarrassing loss.
Jets RB Breece Hall explains why his team struggling in NFL
Following Gang Green’s defeat against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Hall was asked about the team’s struggles on the offensive side of the ball. The RB gave a frank answer behind the Jets loss for a total of nine yards.
“I mean, I only got four touches. That’s why we struggled. It is what it is. We just got down early today and just abandoned the run. That type of stuff happens. You feel like you have to get back in the game and it just slips away,” he said via Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
Following the game Hall posted and later deleted a post on social media. In the post, he wrote four football emojis, probably referring to the number of carries he posted in the match.
The 22-year-old had only four carries and zero catches on two targets while Michael Carter recorded eight and Dalvin Cook recorded seven. Carter and Cook duo added eight combined yards in the passing game as well to sum up 32 yards on 12 total touches for the trio. Zach Wilson, the Jets starting quarterback in absence of Aaron Rodgers, had five carries for 36 yards.
Jets suffer a crushing 30-10 loss to the Cowboys in NFL Week 2
The Jets’ first win without Rodgers signaled a potential playoff run for them, albeit the equation changed within a week. Gang Green was dominant in the first quarter, and they kept the form in the second quarter as well when Zack Wilson successfully hit Garrett Wilson for a 68-yard touchdown.
However, they lost the hold afterwards, and recorded only 147 yards outside the long touchdown, and four second-half turnovers, paving the way for the Cowboys to blow out a New York-based squad for the second straight week.
After kicking a field goal and going into halftime down 18-10, Wilson’s team fell prey to the Cowboys in the second half. Dallas vet Brandon Aubrey nailed field goals of 21, 55, 26 and 30 yards on his team’s way to a whopping 30-10 win over the Gang Green. He became the first Cowboy star to make five field goals in a single match after Dan Bailey in 2013.
The Jets will return to MetLife Stadium to face off against the New England Patriots before taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in the following week. Do you think that they will be able to secure wins in those matches amid uncertainty regarding ARod’s arrival? Tell us in the comments.
