Hours after Kyle Hines’ controversial comparison, Kevin Durant shuts down EuroLeague enthusiast with fiery reply

Kevin Durant isn’t one that shies away from talking back at the fans especially when the situation calls for. The former MVP who will join forces with the Phoenix Suns to try to win a place for the postseason’s games for his team in the coming NBA season, has recently been involved in a heated altercation with fans online.

This comes after Kyle Hines made a controversial comment online regarding league superiority and KD has not backed away from voicing his firm stance against fans of the EuroLeague and league comparisons.

Durant claps back at fan for EuroLeague vs NBA comparison

Kevin Durant has a history of engaging with fans on social media, and it’s a recurring theme. Recently, EuroLeague player Kyle Hines claimed that the EuroLeague is more like chess compared to the NBA, which he sees as checkers. This led to a fan taking it further and asserting that the EuroLeague is better than the NBA.

Kevin Durant surprisingly responded to the fan’s comment saying “F**k outta here lmao. Y’all are insane.”

However, the fan wasn’t ready to back down. He argued that NBA teams don’t focus on defense and that the game is primarily about scoring. He emphasized that they follow the game closely in Europe. Kevin Durant, known for not backing down from such discussions, replied, suggesting that the fan was trying too hard to be different.

The fan continued, claiming that even though the NBA offers more money and fame, it doesn’t necessarily mean the game is more competitive or tougher to play. He pointed out the NBA’s focus on scoring and the need for rules against flopping.

Kevin Durant, still not convinced, concluded the conversation by acknowledging the fan’s perspective and suggested he should support EuroLeague this year, albeit in a sarcastic tone.

EuroLeague star Kyle Hines calls NBA “checkers” in chess comparison

After US sprinter Noah Lyles caused quite a commotion when he suggested that NBA champions shouldn’t be called world champions, another controversy arose when former UNC Greensboro standout Kyle Hines commented that the NBA is like checkers compared to EuroLeague, which he likened to chess.

He said, “I’d say the NBA is checkers and Europe is chess.”

These remarks didn’t sit well with Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, who shared his thoughts on the NBA versus EuroLeague debate on social media.

Kyle Hines had a successful college basketball career at UNC Greensboro, where he averaged 18.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game over four years. Later he had short stints in the NBA Summer League with the Charlotte Bobcats, Orlando Magic, and New Orleans Pelicans, but he never secured a spot on an NBA roster. Hines has played mostly in the EuroLeague during his professional career and is currently with Olympia Milano in Italy.

Claiming that EuroLeague is superior or easier than the NBA is a bit of a stretch, and Suns star Kevin Durant certainly has a valid argument. Considering many top professionals from other countries choose to compete in the NBA, as demonstrated by the FIBA World Cup gold medal-winning German team, featuring current NBA players Dennis Schroder, Franz Wagner, and Mo Wagner is good enough to convince one to see the NBA as superior to other leagues in the world.
