Days after crashing out of Japanese GP, Sergio Perez’s father makes shocking Max Verstappen claim

Sergio Perez was seen to be struggling throughout the entire season to keep up with the pace of Max Verstappen. Observing the races from afar, many suggested that Perez was driving in an entirely different car from the Dutchman.

The claim was soon dismissed by Red Bull, following up with the Mexican’s father digging up the entire series again, complaining of Red Bull of favoring one over the other.

Perez’s father accuses Red Bull of bias towards Verstappen

Antoni Perez Garabay, Perez’s father has made serious allegations on the company when he watched them at the race in the Suzuka Circuit. He told the media that the setup of the car was built in to favour Verstappen’s style which has harmed Perez’s performance profusely throughout the races.

As he spoke to the Mexican outlet ESTO, he said “Checo continues to struggle with the car in something that we have not detected.”

“The car is set for Max. Max drives with all the grip in the front, and Checo has driven all his life and all the time he has driven with the grip in the back. So today, Checo has to adapt to driving a car, and Max doesn’t.”

Furthermore, he added “There is only one place to be a champion. Checo has to work, he has to earn it. This whole thing was built for Max to be there.”

“When Checo finished in tenth place, it was a source of pride for us that he won a point, today, he ends in second place and we get angry, we want him to be first.”

“The only thing I can tell you is that Mexico is going to have an F1 world champion and also, this weekend was the second time that Checo is F1 champion, in the constructors’ [championship].”

Sergio Perez had filled in the seat of the former Thai pilot, Albon. Since then, the Mexican has been adjusting and jostling around in the RB19 with an occasional screamer. However, the consistency lacks and that is what he is presently being criticized for.

A race-ending crash ends Sergio Perez’s Japanese GP journey

At the qualifying, Perez had to make an early pit stop after sustaining damage during a contact moment with Lewis Hamilton at the start of the race. He made that stop during the safety car, which came out early due to debris on the track.

Coming out of the pits, the Red Bull driver overtook several Formula One drivers, against the rules. He returned the places immediately, although, in the case of Alex Albon, it took just a little longer. However, the penalty was soon given because of an incident while entering the pit lane, where Perez also overtook a car. A five-second time penalty was imposed on the Mexican.

Moments later, the driver tapped Kevin Magnussen’s Haas around the track. After this, Perez again had to come in for a new front wing and had to fear another time penalty, but before it came he was called in to park his damaged car in the garage.
