Cody Rhodes teases WrestleMania 40 plans with Paul Heyman reference

After returning to WWE in 2022, Cody Rhodes has been fighting many great opponents and one of them was The Bloodline faction leader Roman Reigns. The two superstars had a scintilating matchup earlier in this year’s WrestleMania. The match resulted in Cody’s loss and the storyline was left there as new storylines emerged for both superstars.

However, the left-out storyline could possibly be revived as The American Nightmare took a slight dig at The Bloodline faction on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Cody Rhodes teases WM 40 plans

On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes aka The American Nightmare took a subtle shot at The Bloodline faction in the opening segment of the show. Rhodes opened the show by greeting the audience present in the arena and mentioned Jey Uso’s move to the Red Brand.

He said how he facilitated the transfer of Jey and also claimed that he could have some ulterior motive for moving Jey Uso on the roster of Raw. He also remarked that something told him they were not in the third inning anymore.

“Something tells me that we are not in the 3rd inning anymore, boys.”, said Cody Rhodes.

The phrase that Cody Rhodes used was originally said by the brain of The Bloodline, Paul Heyman in a press conference after the WWE SummerSlam show this year indicating The Tribal Chief’s victory over Jey Uso.

Now there is a high probability of Rhodes and Jey coming together to challenge The Bloodline. Needless to say, both of them have some score to settle with the faction.

Cody’s WM 40 plans became doubtful momentarily following the Rock’s return

Earlier this year Cody Rhodes main-evented the biggest show of WWE “WrestleMania 39” in a battle against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The bout was a memorable one for many WWE fans due to the intense moves performed by both superstars.

However, the storyline of Cody and Roman is still incomplete because after WrestleMania, The American Nightmare was involved in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar aka The Beast. The storyline involving Brock was finally over at WWE SummerSlam 2023. Overshadowed by that, the storyline involving Roman somehow vanished.

Despite all this, fans were hoping to get a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in the next WrestleMania. But now there is another hindrance to that as The Brahma Bull aka The Rock has returned to WWE in a recent episode of SmackDown.

WWE has been planning for a long time to create a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock. But that plan never came into fruition as Dwayne Johnson was busy. However, the circumstances have changed with his return to the Stamford-based promotion. Now, only time can tell whether Cody or The Rock will face The Tribal Chief.
