Victor Osimhen is one of Napoli’s best players, having led them to a historic Serie A title last year. He had scored 31 goals last season, earning the love of the fans. The last time they had won was three decades ago, so Victor instantly became a hero of the people.
Despite many clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United being interested in acquiring the Nigerian forward, Napoli were adamant about making him stay. Furthermore, a price of 200 million was attached to him by their club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. But it seems now the Serie A top scorer may finally leave the club.
Is Victor Osimhen leaving Napoli?
Recently, the club’s TikTok account posted a video featuring Victor Osimhen. There, it featured the previous penalty miss of the player during a 0-0 draw against Bologna. The video was sped up and mocked the player, with him seemingly asking for a penalty with a weird voice. Another video also mocked the player by comparing him to a coconut. Both videos have been deleted and it is surprising to see a club mock their own player on their social media platforms.
And it seems that Victor is now preparing to file a legal action against the club. His agent Roberto Calenda, wrote on X, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.
He then threatened the use of legal methods to punish the club. “A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”
Since he is preparing to sue the club, it can be expected that Victor Osimhen could finally leave this season. He has many clubs interested in him, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and many others keen to buy him. Despite having a contract that runs until 2025, Napoli may be forced to sell their star player, and possibly at a lower price.
Victor Osimhen deletes all posts related to Napoli
And now Osimhen has done another thing to distance himself from the club. He has deleted every photo and video of him in a Napoli jersey from his Instagram account. All of the other posts not featuring him in a Napoli jersey are intact. This act seems to have further distanced himself from the club and it’s fans.
The club is yet to respond to the accusations while hundreds of fans have defended the Nigerian on social media, calling the club ‘classless’. It is not certain why the club’s TikTok admins posted derogatory videos regarding their best player.
Despite Osimhen willing to take legal action against them, Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has selected Osimhen in his squad for tomorrow’s game against Udinese. He was even seen joining training, in a video shared by Fabrizio Romano. This is despite Osimhen confronting the manager when he took him off the pitch in the same game against Bologna.
Regardless of everything that is happening, Napoli will be looking to win tomorrow’s game against Udinese. They desperately require a victory as the Seria A winners are currently seventh in the league, and will hope Victor Osimhen scores for them tomorrow.
