Days after landing in Las Vegas custody, Chandler Jones’ release marks the end of a turbulent month with Raiders

The past few days have been very frustrating for the Las Vegas Raiders star Chandler Jones. From getting involved in a brawl with the team’s front office to hosting several live videos, the defensive end has gotten himself entangled with several peculiar activities lately.

Jones couldn’t make the team’s active roster since Labor Day weekend, and now, the franchise has decided to put an end to this recent turmoil by breaking up with him.

Raiders part ways with Chandler Jones

According to Adam Schefter, Senior NFL Insider of ESPN, the Raiders have made up their mind to kick him out of the squad by erasing his name from their roster amid the regular season, per a league source.

The decision came a day after the veteran got arrested by Las Vegas-area police on allegations of stealing items from his girlfriend’s house, burning them in his backyard, and later sending her videos of the act. He was scheduled to appear in court in the first week of December, per his attorney Peter Christiansen.

The 33-year-old signed a 3-year, $51 million contract with the Raiders last season, and the team has already paid a major portion of the $17 million Jones was owed this year, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Meanwhile, they have signed a new defensive weapon Isaac Rochell as a replacement for the Rochester native.

Las Vegas Raiders put Jones on non-football illness list

Jones earlier got embroiled in an ugly altercation with the Las Vegas-based team by making a number of social media posts aimed at its owner, particularly owner Mark Davis, coach Josh McDaniels, and general manager Dave Ziegler. He also alleged that the team sent a mental health representative to his residence.

The former Syracuse football star even claimed he was “hacked” after his social media account claimed the Raiders owner was holding a huge secret that only he knew, leading the team to put him on the non-football injury list a few days ago. Due to that move, he was projected to miss at least four more games.

The 11-year veteran, known for his incredible pass-rushing abilities and multiple Pro Bowl appearances, was expected to provide a significant boost to the Raiders‘ defense by filling in a missing piece to elevate their success. However, he completed the last season with 4 1/2 sacks.

Nevertheless, the road to success in Las Vegas proved to be anything but smooth for Jones, and now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for this once-promising star.
