Damian Lillard’s trade to the Milwaukee Bucks has gained wide attention from analysts, retired NBA legends, active veterans, fans, and enthusiasts alike. In as much as this trade deal appears to be surprising to the sporting world, seemingly there had been one particular NBA great who saw the trade coming.
Prior to the 2023 all-star game, Giannis Antetokounmpo had chosen Damian Lillard as his no 1 pick. This move would eventually prompt LeBron to guess that the player regarded Big Game Dame highly and would welcome a future pair up.
LeBron anticipated Lillard trade long before it happened
While the trade of Damian Lillard to the Bucks could still be surprising to many, LeBron James is one who had already anticipated the trade to occur. Prior to this event, Antetokounmpo had always desired Lillard as a possible teammate to fight for more championships. To fulfill his desire, he and LeBron led the 2023 NBA All-Star weekend where he (Giannis) was slated to pick first.
A report by NBA Retweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, revealed LeBron already knew Antetokounmpo was up to something when he picked Dame No. 1 in the 2023 all-star draft. The incident made LeBron suspect a game plan as he already anticipated the outcome of the move.
“Giannis has changed this weekend. He always talks about loyalty, being loyal, and all that stuff. So, I knew for sure his first pick was for sure going to be Jrue, so I don’t know what’s going on with Giannis. Okay, okay, messing my whole draft board up”, LeBron had reportedly said.
Damian Lillard defies previous speculations with shocking trade
When it comes to Damian Lillard, everyone can agree him to be a top player, not just because Giannis picked him but because of his previous achievements with the Portland Trail Blazers. Prior to Damian being traded to the Bucks, there were speculations that he said if he was being traded to any team other from the Miami Heat, he wouldn’t train with them.
Damian on his part has addressed these speculations as he is now a Bucks player and has quashed the rumors. He posted on his X space formerly known as Twitter, “The casuals won’t be addressed but the trailblazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be … and they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned Excited for my next chapter!.”
Clearly Big Game Dame is happy to be a part of the Bucks and is eager to embark on a new chapter in his NBA career. What are your thoughts on Damian Lillard’s future in the NBA? Share with us below.
