Great players always appreciate other great players, taking inspiration and motivation from the success and abilities of each other. Kevin De Bruyne is currently one of the best midfielders in the world and has led a dominant Manchester City side for years. Last year, his contributions helped his side win their maiden Champions League title.
Kevin De Bruyne has great vision on the pitch, and it seems it is the same case off the pitch. One of his recent social media interactions has garnered much attention from fans, as he gives a nod of approval to another great player.
De Bruyne’s nod to Cristiano Ronaldo
The player in question is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, who is one of the greatest players to ever play soccer. His successes and abilities have earned him many loyal fans, including many current football players such as Bukayo Saka.
And now, Kevin De Bruyne has also joined the list. He recently liked a Twitter post where a fan used statistics to describe Ronaldo’s playmaking abilities. The author showed that Ronaldo has 242 assists, which is more than Xavi and Andres Iniesta. He used this to show the fact that Ronaldo, who is mainly known for being a great goal scorer, is actually also a great playmaker.

Seeing that the Belgian midfielder liked the post, many fans pointed this out and liked that the player appreciated Ronaldo. However, just hours after it went viral, De Bruyne removed it. The reasons are unknown, though De Bruyne has also previously appreciated Ronaldo.
He was once asked if he would rather play with Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, and the midfielder chose the Portuguese striker, saying, “I would probably say Ronaldo because heās more of a typical striker.”
How long will Kevin De Bruyne be injured?
Unfortunately, De Bruyne has not seen much action this season. The midfield maestro was injured in the opening match of the Premier League season against Burnley, having to be substituted in just the 22nd minute. He apparently tore his hamstring and has not made an appearance since.
According to manager Pep Guardiola, Kevin De Bruyne could be out for many months, “It’s a serious injury. He will be out for a few months. The injury is a blow, a big loss. He has specific qualities. For a long time is really tough for us.”
The injury is similar to the one he faced in the Champions League final against Inter Milan, where he was also substituted early. It seems the Belgian is having a recurring injury issue, and when he could return is unclear. Regardless, his team has a UCL game this Wednesday against RB Leipzig and De Bruyne would surely hope they win.
