The upcoming NBA season is around the corner and fans and players prepping for it. Many team-defining trades took place through the summer, but some clubs are currently being discussed as title candidates, like the Los Angeles Lakers.
NBA analyst Charles Barkley recently made his choice for championship contenders, down to four teams: the Denver Nuggets, the Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He is specifically quite impressed by the Lakers’ summer moves.
The title race is sure to be intense. All eyes are on the action on the court as fans and experts try to predict who will win the championship.
Barkley believes Lakers got better with summer roster improvements
According to Barkley, the Lakers have improved their roster during the summer despite signing any major free agents. He appreciated the team’s strategy of adding depth to their bench with free agents like as Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, and Gabe Vincent.
“The Lakers have gotten better. There’s going to be some surprise teams. The Celtics are interesting, going out to get (Kristaps) Porzingis.”
These additions not only have strengthened the team overall but have also given them more options when making their lineups, making them able to adjust to the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents.
According to Barkley, the Lakers’ success depends on Anthony Davis’s potential being fully used and sustained throughout the season. They will enter the next NBA season as one of his four favorite teams to win the title because of their constant commitment to improving their roster and getting the most out of their star player.
Lakers re-signed D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura
The Los Angeles Lakers have added a lot to their free agency by signing their starting backcourt to new deals. Two of the important players they have resigned players on the squad are point guard D Lo and Austin Reaves.
They also made a significant acquisition by acquiring power forward Rui Hachimura, whose deal is more lucrative than Reaves’. He has proven to be an asset for the team in the previous season as well.
They made further additions to their team and have made a strong roster by acquiring former New Orleans Pelicans player Jaxson Hayes. The team has improved their squad for the next season with these deals, giving them a better chance to compete for an NBA championship.
