In each of the last four seasons, the Buffalo Bills have been among the top teams in the AFC, and this year is no exception. Though they started the season with an upset loss against the New York Jets in which Aaron Rodgers was ruled for the whole season, soon they bounced back with consecutive convincing victories in their next three games.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be the opponent for the Bills in their Week 5 game, however unlike the other games, this one won’t be played across the boundaries of the United States of America.
Why Bills is playing in London NFL in London?
In addition to scheduling NFL games in America, the league chose to schedule matches on foreign soil in order to spread the popularity of the NFL outside of America. The first international NFL game in London took place during this phase 16 years ago, in 2007.
The league carried on doing so nearly every year after receiving widespread approval and favorable feedback. Since the NFL’s inception, every season has included at least one London contest, with the exception of 2020, which is the only year that didn’t host a game because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The league modified its new overseas Series plan in 2022 and began scheduling a minimum of four overseas games each season. The Bills travel to England for a “home” game versus the Jaguars on October 8 as part of this season’s NFL October Takeover.
What is NFL international games 2023?
Five international games will be held in London, UK, and Frankfurt, Germany, the NFL confirmed in May. The 2023 NFL International Games were officially launched on October 1 at Wembley Stadium in London by the Jaguars, who defeated Atlanta with a commanding 23-7 victory. This was their historic tenth home game in London during the regular season.
The Jaguars would play the Bills and Jaguars in the following game, as was already mentioned, making them the first team to play two regular season games outside of the United States. The NFL team’s trip to London will come to a conclusion on October 15 when the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens square off in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The NFL promised that in addition to London, fans would also be able to see certain regular-season games in Germany. As a result of this agreement, the NFL made its first trip to Germany for a Week 10 game between the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Munich’s Allianz Arena last season.
The NFL planned two games in Frankfurt for the 2023 season. On Sunday, November 5, at Frankfurt Stadium, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will open the Frankfurt Games against the Miami Dolphins. To close out the 2023 NFL International Games, the New England Patriots play the Indianapolis Colts at Frankfurt Stadium.
