Since Deion Sanders took on role of the team’s head coach in 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes squad has been flying high after securing some incredible victories. One of the major reasons behind his success is his own son, Shedeur Sanders, who plays as a quarterback for the team.
During his short time with the Buffaloes, Shedeur has already moonlighted as a hero by showcasing extraordinary athleticism. Besides his on-field success, the young star had also hit the headlines several times for his statements on the field, and one of those includes a pre-game gesture.
Shedeur Sanders flex makes headlines in NCAA football
After facing criticism for his underwhelming performance against Oregon and USC, Shedeur rebounded in the match against Arizona State by completing 26 of 42 passes for 239 yards and throwing a touchdown. Following his game-winning field goal that propelled his team to a 4-2 record, the quarterback celebrated the victory with his signature move of displaying his watch.
Following the match, he said the win was predictable from every end while saying they put in the best effort to grab the 27-24 win on Saturday.
“It was like practice, just trusting the play call, understanding, knowing what time it is. They left too much time on the clock. And we knew that, nobody on the sideline panicked, flinched, nobody didn’t believe… I definitely what was going to happen because you’re going to do what it takes to win.”
Meanwhile, this is not the first time the junior Sanders has made such a celebration. He initially flaunted his luxurious diamond wristwatch during an altercation before Colorado’s week-one matchup with the University of Nebraska. Since then, it has become his signature celebration, and he displayed it once again after securing victory against Colorado State on September 16 as well.
Worth of Shedeur’s watch
Shedeur’s custom Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15500 watch, featuring 30 carats of VVS diamonds, holds a whopping value at around $70,000, per Saki Mihalakos, who made it. Mihalakos, the owner of Jacksonville-based jewelry company Saki Diamonds, didn’t reveal the exact price of the watch that was purchased by the QB in 2022 when he was playing for Jackson State.
However, the owner is happy seeing the young star flexing the watch while accomplishing phenomenal on-field records.
“That’s my watch on his wrist. He’s out there shining. But he puts in the work. He deserves it. It’s beautiful to see my piece on that stage, but it doesn’t happen like that as if you’re not good to that person. I’m grateful to be a part of that.”
Meanwhile, Shedeur’s father also caused a fire in the merchandise store as his “Prime 21” sunglasses had brought in over $4.5 million in sales following the subtle digs aimed at him due to wearing a cowboy hat and a pair of shades every time.
