Update on Israel Adesanya’s drunk driving case
According to court documents, Adesanya is facing a charge of operating a vehicle on Wellesley St in Auckland Central with a blood alcohol concentration of 87 milligrams per 100 milliliters. This surpassed New Zealand’s legal limit of 50 milligrams. Adesanya’s alcohol level was marginally above the permissible limit of 80 milligrams.
Adesanya released a statement to the New Zealand Herald expressing his remorse over the incident. “I regretted my decision to drive after having drinks at dinner.” the UFC star stated. He further conveyed his disappointment in his actions and stressed that such behavior was inexcusable. The incident happened before UFC 293.
For offenses of this nature, the penalties in New Zealand range from a three-month imprisonment to a fine of up to $4500. The incident in question transpired on August 19 of that year. After the court proceedings, Adesanya chose to remain silent. Izzy is currently presumed to take on Dricus Du Plessis or Khamzat Chimaev.
