Cowboys QB Dak Prescott’s finger injury outraged fans while “Mr. Irrelevant” Brock Purdy shines despite earning 46x less

One of the most criticized quarterbacks in the league, Dallas Cowboys starter Dak Prescott perhaps accepted his luck to find himself at the center of a passionate debate among fans every now and then. After an ugly preseason, Prescott was the fans’ first target, though he with his team soon bounced back in the regular season with a stunning start against the New York Giants.

However, the Cowboys faced the undefeated San Fransisco 49ers in their last match and accepted a terrible defeat. Soon after the defeat, Prescott again found himself as the poster boy of criticism despite his injury.

Dak Prescott’s finger injury outraged Cowboys fans

The 49ers vs Cowboys feud marked one of the greatest battles so far this season due to the two team’s spectacular performances since the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, the 49ers managed themselves undefeated once again, blowing out the Cowboys 42-10.

Dak Prescott was not in the best form during the game and only managed three interceptions due to a finger injury on his throwing hand. Following the defeat, Cowboys supporters’ feelings were raw, and some of them aired their anger at the 30-year-old, despite his injury.

Some others voiced resentment over allegedly lost opportunities as they thought it should have been handled better.

“Are we building in excuses this early?”, one netizen wrote in a comment.

The Cowboys have a fervent and loyal fan following, and each game means a great deal to them. Therefore, following the loss, the majority of comments on social media used Prescot’s injury as little more than a justification to protest the dreadful setback.

“Quit making excuses for him he’s been horrid”, one comment read.

Some fans also vented their anger urging to “Bench him”. 

Not only just fans, following Dak’s performance against the 49ers, famous NFL analyst Skip Bayless also voiced his frustration, demanding Prescott benched for Trey Lance.

While the 49ers vs Cowboys battle appeared as a nightmare for Dak Prescott, the 49ers “Mr. Irrelevant” experienced a completely different scenario. With his playmaking abilities, he again touched the hearts of NFL fans. 

“That’s Mr Relevant to you…never lost to you either”, one fan left a shoutout for Purdy.

Prescot signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the Cowboys in 2021 that made him able to earn $40 M per year. On the contrary, Purdy only makes 870K a year and the starter recently made headlines for his ordinary lifestyle.

Moreover, Brock’s annual salary is 46 times less than Prescott’s. Hence the NFL fans did not hold back from raising questions on Prescott’s contract mentioning him as “overpaid” and showing disgust at how he could be ruined by underpaid Purdy.
