There have been many accusations toward NFL athletes which included sexual harassment, improper behavior, reckless driving, etc, yet one former NFL star Aaron Hernandez had crossed all the lines listing his name as a serial killer.
The NFL world witnessed a bitter ending for a star player as after getting charged with first-degree murder, Hernandez saw a devastating ending to his NFL career as he was kicked off his team and later committed suicide.
Who is ex-Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez?
Aaron finished his college career at Florida as an All-American and was chosen by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The former Patriots tight end played 38 games throughout his three seasons with the team, recording 175 catches for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns.
In his debut season, the former colleague of Tom Brady amassed 563 receiving yards and six touchdowns. In his second season, he was crucial to the Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl XLVI. During his final season, Hernandez recorded 483 receiving yards, 5 receiving touchdowns, and a season average of 9.5 yards per reception.
What led to Aaron Hernandez’s conviction for murder?
Aaron was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2015 for shooting and killing his friend Odin L. Lloyd, shocking the sports world while his NFL career was at its peak. The 27-year-old Odin was his fiancee’s sister’s boyfriend.
Hernandez left his home in handcuffs after the corpse of Lloyd was later discovered close to his mansion in North Attleborough. He was indicted with first-degree murder and five firearms offenses.
In 2013, Odin Lloyd is found murdered. Shot execution style. The suspect is NFL star Aaron Hernandez. Aaron is also accused of another unrelated double murder.
But he has just signed a $40 million contract with the Patriots.

Prosecutors never made it clear why the former tight end killed Lloyd, but they believed he was furious when he saw Lloyd talking to men whom he had previously gotten into a fight with. Again, others suggested Hernandez’s fear of being exposed once Lloyd allegedly uncovered his purported homosexuality.
The authorities collected circumstantial evidence at the crime scene instead of a direct witness, such as DNA, security footage, cell phone records, etc. Later, the former tight end was charged with additional offenses including two additional counts of first-degree murder. It was connected to the killings of de Abreu and Furtado in 2012.
The Patriots canceled his contract hours after he was accused. And nine days after he was arrested. He was also given a life sentence without the chance of release. On April 19, 2017, the former football prospect hanged himself in his cell using the sheets from his bed.
Aaron went through several incidents in his early life that probably made him aggressive by nature. Not being able to get a proper hold of himself probably lead to his later crimes and demise.
