Months after announcing full-time racing return in 2024, Jenson Button playfully roasts McLaren for podium oversight

Jenson Button, whose full name is Jenson Alexander Lyons Button MBE, is a British racing driver who won the 2009 Formula One championship, winning back-to-back podiums for his team, McLaren.

His contribution to the team’s success was huge, yet ironically enough, McLaren failed to honor his achievements in a post to celebrate the team’s past as well as the present drivers’ success.

Jenson Button’s 26 podiums overlooked

In the Qatar Grand Prix, despite the drivers’ struggles due to the ruthless weather, McLaren set a new Formula 1 pit stop record at 1.80 seconds, marking a historic milestone with their 500th podium finish.

To celebrate this, McLaren decided to post a snazzy graphic on social media to show respect to all of those drivers who contributed to McLaren’s continuous victories for almost a decade.

However, on the post, Jenson’s 26 podium score was not seen. This was shockingly displeasing, as drivers such as Kevin Magnussen and Daniel Ricciardo, who had scored one podium, were on the post.

Thus, Jenson reacted hilariously to the  enormous mistake of the team by saying, “My 26 podiums for you guys don’t count so it’s only 475!”

Button set for full-time racing return in 2024

Jenson Button, who won the Formula One Championship in 2009 with Brawn, is preparing himself to have an effective comeback fin2024, once again as a sportscar driver.

The 43-year-old is planning to drive full-time in 2024, extending his plans till 2025. As per the reports, he is consecuting a plan to debut in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, racing for JDC-Miller MotorSports in the 26th staging of the Motul Petit Le Mans on October 14, as the British driver ensures that he still, has a lot of stamina yet to dedicate to the Industry.

When asked about his plans, Button replied “There are a few very good options.” He then added: “Endurance is the place I want to be. Multiclass racing throws something else into the mix with traffic. There’s always a lot more action because of it. The way IMSA is run, you don’t know who is going to win until after the last safety car. Endurance racing is where it’s at.”

The British Driver had a phenomenal past experiences of participating in the World Endurance Championship, Le Mans, Super GT, DTM and NASCAR. Yet, he is still adamant to give his best performance to the industry, once again with a strong force, coming back from retirement.
