The recent race wasn’t only a golden one for Max Verstappen and Red Bull camp. McLaren pretty much enjoyed their own celebrations throughout the weekend when their rookie driver secured his first win and later on Lando and Oscar went to claim the podium places after Max won the race pretty easily.
This marked a series of back-to-back impressive performances, following the team’s double podium in the Japanese GP, which was believed to be their best result of the 2023 season thus far. It turned into a surprising yet delightful weekend for fans, and the realization that the Papaya outfit had reached 500 podiums added to the excitement. McLaren reach new milestone at Qatar GP
It seems the only thing preventing the team from a near-perfect weekend was a race win. They not only achieved their 500th podium but also delivered a record-breaking performance during the race.
Pit stops are one of the most important and rapid factors of the race that influence entire championship battles basically. To go up against other teams and increase their own efficiency in changing the various components or only for a quick tyre change, teams practice pit stops quite often.
McLaren hit the home run again when it was later on announced that they had set the world record for fastest pit stop by taking only 1.80s to complete a perfect pit stop for Lando Norris. This record was earlier held by the mechanics of Red Bull who had a difference of a meager 0.02 seconds with 1.82s.
A golden week for the Papaya team can be considered when people talk about Qatar GP 2023 later on. The struggles that the team has overcome from the early parts of this season have been enormous but the upgrades and development has out-shadowed most other manufacturers.
