Broncos’ reported roster shake-up casts shadow over Russell Wilson’s hopes to snap 15-game slide vs Chiefs

The Denver Broncos acquired Russell Wilson in an expensive deal due to concerns about their underwhelming offensive lineup. However, since Wilson struggled in his first season this year, Sean Payton was given the responsibility of leading the team as their starter. Another losing streak-based season has marred Sean Payton’s efforts to revive the Denver Broncos’ long-lost offense.

As a result, the team is seemingly determined to make significant changes to their two receivers in Week 6’s game against the Patriots, hoping to address their underperforming offense and end a demoralizing 15-game losing streak against their Week 6 contender.

Denver Broncos signal big moves involving two key WR’s

Many of the squad members were the target of criticism after the Broncos’ 1-4 start. Unfortunately, two of the Denver team’s top receivers, Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, found their names among those criticized.

Rumors began spreading that the organization is “open for business” before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline in the midst of this contentious circumstance as the team is preparing for a strong comeback. The rumors gained acceptance after ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported, “Some teams around the league believe that the #Broncos are willing to listen to trade offers for WRs Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton”.

Both Sutton and Jeudy started their NFL career in Denver. Sutton has been with the Broncos since 2018 after he was drafted in the second round while the latter one was drafted No. 15 overall in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Cortland played in 70 games for the Broncos, hauling in 260 catches for 3,716 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Alabama standout, on the other hand, hauled in 174 catches for 2,503 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Broncos gear up to halt 15-game losing streak against Chiefs

On Thursday night, the Broncos will play the first of their two games versus Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. After five weeks of the NFL, the two clubs’ records and rankings are polar opposites.

The match is already set an uphill battle for Sean Payton as he already gathered much criticism for claiming the team’s former coach and the New York Jets’ OC Nathaniel Hackett as a loser but ending up losing to Hackett-lead Jets in Week 5. Amid these, their week 6 game against the Chiefs is going to be tougher as Patrick Mahomes’ team has won 15 consecutive games over the Broncos.

The last time the Broncos beat the Chiefs came on September 15, 2015, during Peyton Manning’s final season as Denver’s starting quarterback. Even though Russell Wilson hasn’t performed at a professional level yet in Denver against the Chiefs, the top player is ready to go all out and hopes to alter the course of the rivalry on Thursday night.

“The important thing is that we’ve got to create a new history. We have to be able to do that with one play at a time, one moment at a time, one game at a time. … Every game has a history of its own, and we’ve got to be focused on this one and go win this game.”

However, the Broncos are gradually enhancing their offense this year, while the Chiefs are underperforming in comparison to their Lombardi Trophy-winning season last year. A glimmer of hope for the Broncos has been offered by the uncertainty surrounding key Chiefs players like Travis Kelce, George Karlaftis, and Tommy Townsend.

Do you believe the Denver team can end their 15-game losing record against the Chiefs and pull off an unexpected victory?
