In a historic deal with the New York Jets in 2020, the Seattle Seahawks acquired safety Jamal Adams, but due to an injury, they were unable to fully utilize him on the field. The safety played in his first game in more than a year on Monday against the New York Giants.
Nevertheless, with the stakes so high, Adams let his emotions show on an on-field neurologist when he was unable to play due to an injury setback. As soon as he acknowledged his oversight, he issued a sincere apology to put an end to the commotion.
Jamal Adams gets green light
In the first quarter of the Seahawks’ 24-3 victory over the Giants, Jamal Adams was forced to leave the game due to a concussion after the Giants quarterback Daniel Jones kneed him in the head. As the injury appeared to be serious and safety was already a big issue for his injury, he was later declared out of the game.
Due to injury, the 27-year-old had missed 28 out of a potential 53 regular-season games for the Seahawks. Fortunately, this time he avoided bad luck because Adams passed the concussion protocol after missing practice on Monday.
The Seahawks team management authorized Jamal Adams to practice on Wednesday since his condition has been getting better. He is anticipated to rejoin the club and return to play on Oct.15 at Cincinnati.
The news has come as super excitement for the whole team, including Seahawks coach Pete Carroll as they are gearing up to face the Cincinnati Bengals in the next week.
“I’m really excited for him to get back going again. He really had fun in the preparation, and I know he was jacked about being out there, and it just didn’t last long enough.”
Adams worked tirelessly to ensure his team’s victory before he departed the field, and his nine defensive snaps, which included two combined tackles, showed that.
Adams’ apology attempts to end controversy with the doctor
The three-time Pro Bowler was really frustrated by the injury as he was eager to get back on the field. Jamal thus lost his anger after receiving care from the Seahawk medical team. Prior to entering the locker room, he was observed shouting at the neurosurgeon on the sideline.
Jamal Adams eventually felt guilt for his irrational action and posted an apology on his social media on Wednesday. He started to recognize the doctor’s efforts to assist him in recovering from his injury. He apologized and thanked the doctor for his patience at that particular time. Additionally, he did not hesitate to praise the neurosurgeon as a hero for the NFL players.
“You did everything right when you realized I was concussed, I apologize for any negative energy I brought your way. Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment. You’re a real one and serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players.”
Though NFL authorities reported that they were exploring the case, fortunately, Jamal Adams escaped any punishment from the league. After five weeks of the NFL season, the Seahawks have already taken three victories, and they are desperate to steal another one from the Bengals. Hence, having their veteran safety participate will undoubtedly be an added bonus for them in their Week 6 conflict.
