Aston Martin was one of the major surprises this year, experiencing a significant power boost and advancing towards the front of the pack after a rather mediocre season last year following regulation changes. They kicked off their campaign on a high note, with the reigning champion driver, Fernando Alonso, consistently securing podium finishes.
Aston Martin created a stir in the early stages of the season, but the excitement died down as the season progressed, and they seemed to plateau in their battle for dominance and podium finishes. Despite introducing upgrades, Fernando Alonso continues to extract the full potential from their car, but no noticeable improvement has become evident.
Aston Martin set to rebrand F1 team for next season
Amidst the hustle and bustle for a new season, team owner Lawrence Stroll has dropped a very exciting and unthinkable announcement for the next season. Of course, we aren’t talking about any major technical secrets but what we are looking at is another name change for the Silverstone based team.
The team has a history of adopting different identities throughout its involvement in the world of motorsport. It initially began as the Force India F1 team and later underwent a rebranding process, becoming the Racing Point team. Subsequently, with Lawrence Stroll’s acquisition, it was once again rebranded and is now known as the Aston Martin Formula 1 team.
Lawrence Stroll has planned yet another change in the team for next year which is quite surprising considering it was uncalled for and not even experts saw it coming in the future.
As mentioned by a spokesperson, the name change is related it’s main sponsor Cognizant which was Aston Martin’s first sponsor too.
“Through the first phase of their partnership with us, they’ve achieved that – now, lots more people know who Cognizant are and what they do.
“This was always planned as phase two of that relationship – after achieving global brand awareness, they are deepening their partnership with us, they are applying their digital transformation to our business – both on and off the racetrack – and we are now building a deeper, broader relationship with them.”
“The new team name will be confirmed in early 2024.”
Aston Martin’s alarming slump raises questions
The team initially started off as a championship contender to the top teams like Ferrari and Mercedes but as current standings and races point out Aston Martin are more likely to lose a position in the constructor’s championship rather than gain one.
This raises signs of worry because the team was unable to develop their car in a positive direction after a good start, racing questions about their flexible wing and their wonder boy Alonso pointing out and hinting at some tyre issues plaguing the car in it’s recent quests.
Do you think McLaren will beat Aston Martin in the world championship by the end of the season?
