The Philadelphia Eagles, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, are one of the NFL’s two remaining undefeated teams in Week 6. After starting 5-0 in back-to-back seasons, the team is eyeing the Super Bowl title this year.
Besides on-field performance, the Eagles hit the headlines for bringing back their revitalized black-and-white uniforms in a highly anticipated matchup in week 6. The timing couldn’t be much better, with the franchise riding high on their continuous winning streak and Hurts emerging as a beacon of hope for their potential Lombardi trophy run.
Jalen Hurts influences the return of the classic Eagles uniform
The Eagles players usually wear white or green pants with a white jersey. Back in November 2021, they announced to wear black pants with white jerseys for the first time in the history of the franchise. Black pants were included in their jersey combination in 2011, but they used to be worn with black jerseys only.
In their upcoming clash against the New York Jets on Sunday, the Philly squad will once again be seen donning their classic White x Black Uniform Combination.
The decision was taken at the request of their starting QB, and he has already declared to take full credit for the unique combination.
“I take full credit for it. I worked really hard to get Mr. Lurie to try and switch it up a little bit. I appreciate them letting us wear the black pants.”
Meanwhile, Philadelphia has also returned to their original Kelly-green jersey in July that their legends like Randall Cunningham donned during their NFL career back in the 90s. Till 1996, this color was prevalent before getting replaced with “midnight green”, which had been used for the past 25 years. They also have a Kelly-green alternate helmet to wear with the jersey.
Hurts joins elite company with remarkable 22-1 record in past 23 starts
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Hurts for his caliber to run the football as much as his passing out of the QB position, and the signal-caller didn’t disappoint his team. Keeping the dual threat at the helm, the franchise has secured victory in all five games this season, and besides that, he is 22-1 over the last 23 regular season games.
This incredible feat has earned him a spot among NFL icons like former stars Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Jim McMahon, and Peyton Manning along with current Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.
After the recent 23-14 win against the Los Angeles Rams, the Philly vet has recorded an 11-consecutive regular-season winnings streak. This is marked as the longest winning streak in the history of their franchise as well as the third-longest in the league after Brady (13) and Montana (18). Till now, Jalen Hurts recorded 1262 yards and 6 touchdowns, with a 60.6 QBR rating.
