The Philadelphia Eagles were on cloud nine after holding them as the second undefeated team so far before facing the New York Jets. While the Aaron-Rodgers-less Jets dared to battle against the high-flying Eagles without their some defensive key players, the Eagles were much assured for the win with Jalen Hurts, leading their offense.
Unfortunately, instead of closing the night undefeated, Hurt lost the highly-noted title by accepting an upset defeat to the Jets. Following the night, the Eagles’ quarterback had some words to reveal behind their defeat.
Hurts reveals crucial details about Eagles’ Jets loss
The Eagles vs. Jets showdown was expected to be a one-sided match before the start of the game. Hurts added salt to the speculations by assisting his team to enjoy a 7-0 lead on their first possession with a 3-yard run. Soon, the Jets bounced back in the second quarter and closed the quarter by adding 3 points on the scoreboards, while the Eagles doubled their score.
Most unfortunately, Robert Saleh’s defense held Philly scoreless for the rest of their game. The night was horrible for Jalen Hurts, as he was forced to throw three interceptions, which tied his career-high interceptions.
The Eagles quarterback himself admitted that they did not play at their best level last night, leading them to digest their first loss in the season as the Jets stymied them all game.
“You just got to control the things that you can, you know? The objective is to play standard and demand excellence of ourselves and we were not today,” he said.
Jalen threw a ball for Dallas Goedert during the game, but Tony Adams intercepted it, returning it 45 yards to the Eagles 8 prior to Breece Hall scored it. Before finding DeVonta Smith for a 2-yard gain, he attempted one more incomplete pass. Hence, following the game, he had nothing but to blame the missed opportunities, claiming it as the focal point for the loss.
“You look at this game, you have so many missed opportunities and, really, so many mistakes as if you’re kind of giving it away,” Hurts said.
During the night, Jalen Hurts completed 280 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions on 28 of 45 throw attempts. In addition, he added a score and ran eight times for 47 yards.
Upcoming contest for Eagles against Dolphins
Next week, on Sunday Night Football, the Eagles will host the dynamic attack of the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field for their Week 7 matchup.
The Dolphins are coming off a 42-21 Week 6 victory over the Carolina Panthers, while the Eagles are coming off a horrible setback in Week 6 that destroyed their 12-game winning streaks over the Jets and resulted in a loss of the undefeated title. This season, they had scored at least 23 points in each of their five games prior to their defeat by the Jets.
Additionally, both teams’ current 5-1 records point to an exciting matchup in Week 7. The Eagles will be focused on a comeback win to get revenge for their lone upset loss, while the Dolphins are determined to keep up their winning run.
